Mate, what's your thoughts that we start a post listing the Dealerships who have been good to deal with and rate them out of 10 ?

Kosciuszko NP only requires 2WD vehicles to carry chains. Personally I try to avoid fitting chains at all costs, particularly on bitumen. I'd hate to see the damage a loose one would do to the wheel well of a GC.
I think Kosciusko require you to carry even with a 4wd?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hotham require diamond pattern chains as there are a couple of steep grades when approaching from Harrietville. Also you drive up over the summit and this I don't think happens at any other resort. If the wind and snow are right you can't see anything sometimes.
They have had to many accidents with cars and 4WD's using only ladder chains hence the diamond requirement was put into place a few years ago.
Just bought a set for my SRT and only $350.

They say not but then say latter as directed.

I remember last time we were up they were telling everyone to fit chains.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Grand cherokee only equipped with all season tyres which I think will greatly discount vehicle's traction capability in snow.

I think it will degrade into a major bitch session. There are no certainties. We have members on here who have completely polar opposite experiences with the same dealer.

Yep, and the same person at the same dealership on two different days. It's like the weather...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My wife and I were hit pretty badly many years ago by a land cruiser in the snow. He wasn't going very fast and didn't have chains on (we did). It was simply a bend - we were coming down the hill on a sweeping right hander - he was coming up on a tighter left hander.

His front tyres lost grip and he ended up with his bull bar in my back drivers side passenger seat. I can still see it.

By accelerating (and we had grip remember) the extra 50cm I managed to gain meant I can type this today.
I use chains in the snow.
Cheers
Andrew.

I read car accident statistics in snowy mountain region, 50% relation to 4WD. Main cause was no snow chain being used. I guess 4Wd gives driver false sense of security in snow.

Really?

After reading quite a few Dealership Disaster stories here I'm now keen to ask them "What makes them the Jeep Dealer of the year, compared to other Jeep Dealers?".

I believe the Product is very good; however after reading quite a few posts here it appears that the Customer Service has a lot to be desired.

Not quite ready to go in there and talk business just yet, but I will in a few months. The members of Jeep Garage certainly have armed me with plenty of info about what to expect and what to look out for when making a purchase. Thankyou

Oh, and they had a beautiful White SRT with Pano Roof in there too. Boy did it sparkle under them bright LED showroom lights. And I swear I could hear it whisper, ...."Buy me, take me home, get me outta here...."
Hey Marty
I would avoid Nunawading like the plague. The then new sales manager offering me $5,000 less than I eventually got for a trade in elsewhere. Plus he would not budge on price of Limited, didn't check what stock was already being shipped over from US - no help or concession at all. Very bad experience. I ended up joining Webber and purchasing from Werribee - great trade-in and deal, couldn't be more helpful. It was worth the travel distance. Note that I live in the Yarra Valley, completely the opposite side of Melbourne..

Also note that Lilydale dealership was just opening and are an offshoot of Nunawading - they were a little better to deal with but no concession with trade in. I ended up nearly $10K better off shopping elsewhere - SPEND THE TIME LOOKING AROUND!

At the time I asked about the carrying of the chains but not the fitting of them, and the response was to carry them for emergency situations.

Thanks Colozzie. Yes I'll be having a look at Werribee too; I've heard a few good reports about them now. I'd certainly travel for better customer service and after sales service
