You're right actually. I took a closer look, and a rock could get through to the radiator. It's not much different to that on my landcruiser, although the gap is somewhat bigger. Guess I've been lucky with that. I'll take a look to see if it's practical to put a screen behind it.
Thanks,
Russell

Your DR and colour code bar from ARB looks great.

Doing a similar trip December.. Top End with camper trailer.

What extras are you running

Cheers and have a safe journey and the best time.

The colour coding does look so much better than black or chrome finishes. It makes it look far more part of the cars. The GC does not blend these bars into its styling very well compared to most other cars (BT-50 excluded, that is the worst). Generally they look like some big chunk of random metal got thrown at it, and it stuck. Colour coding cleans it up massively.

Thanks Rocksfly.
Not a lot of extras. BFG A/T tyres replace the Khumos, plus an extra Laredo wheel with TPM and BFG, plus a BFG on the Steel spare also with a TPM sensor.
Engel Eclipse fridge; Thumper battery with 600w inverter. I'm trying to avoid roof racks. I'd go for a snorkel if there was one.

So the car and camper are now ready for the Kimberley trip. We'll probably leave next weekend.

Looks great. The colour coding does make it look much better. Waiting to see one in the flesh before committing but I'm swayed the ARB way.

Bar looks good! Im thinking about getting the same for our overland later this year. Are the BFGs the same size as original?

Hopefully snorkel wise there should be something on the market in the next couple of months, we really need our air boxes up higher thats for sure.

The BFGs are 265/65/18 (vs 265/60/18 original). Spare on the steel wheel just fits in the wheel well - the square edge not the width is the limiting factor. Laredo wheel does not fit because of the wheel, not the tyres - there's an apparently unnecessary bump in the wheel, well floor that holds the spokes up. Speedo now reads 1-2% low vs 2 - 3% high before. Distance is understated by 4%, which is a bit of a pain.

Well, you got me a bit worried Allypally, so I have applied a temporary fix - a plastic grill cable tied each side of the FCW dome. Hard to see in the photo (hard to see in the flesh!), but should add some protection. Don't think airflow will be an issue, but if I have any temp problems I will just snip the ties. So, thanks for your observation.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I have been experinecing a knocking noise, and you normally would feel it under your feet. It started happening a couple of weeks ago. It normally happens when accelerating on take off. I just read about a fix for a knocking (detonating) sound, but not sure if this is the same. Has anyone experienced a knocking sound? If so, what did it sound/feel like and was it fixed. Appreciate your assistance.

Thanks,Dom

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Car only has travelled 7000km. There's an excessive tyre tread wear on outer edges of both front tyres. If I had a Rego inspection, both front tyres would have failed. I can rule out incorrect tyre pressure as cold tyre pressure has always been 37psi. Wheel alignment was done at 1000km service as back then the car pulled slightly to left. If that wheel alignment was done properly, then I can rule it out too.

Has everyone experienced similar issue, and any suggestion of possible causes? Thanks

Mmc

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

There is something waaaaaaaay back in this thread about the wheel alignment and camber settings.
