Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Not sure - I first thought it was a suspension issue, but tinking it may be more to do with detonation given it only happens when I boot it. I have booked to have this looked at next Thursday morning at the local Jeep dealer, but hoping I was able to eliminate all the usual suspects before then - or in case I could not replicate it again.

After popping some discs out on my lower back last year I was looking for all of the support down there I could get. I ramped it forward. I know that it was out of the way and not noticeable before then.

I just spent the day cutting up blocks of foam and sticking them under the seat cover. I'll see if that keeps her happy.

Has anyone experienced the dreaded front CV Boot Axle issue yet with there new Jeep Grand Cherokees?

J
GCnewbie,

No cars produced with defective CV boots have arrived in Australia yet.

Benno's was produced in Feb, but the bad batch of front axle assemblies didn't get into the supply chain until early March by the sounds of things. Vehicles assembled after approx. 14 April should be OK as all defective axle assemblies were quarantined about then. (All this info is what I have been able to ascertain from the http://www.jeepgarage.org/f73/grease...-73976-39.html thread.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Well the run a good luck with BaaBaaa has ended. Driving home today at about 100kph, had the message about needing to run at highway speeds to burn off and clean the filter come up at the exact same times as "Service Electronic Throttle Control" after slowing at an intersection the Jeep went in to limp mode, stayed in 4th gear and will not go over 70 kph. Been told by the dealer once it goes in to this mode it has to go in for a service. Can't get in until Friday. I think BaaBaaa is pissed of as she is due in for her ARB bullbar to be fitted on Wednesday. Not sure how to handle that one now...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Ask them to apply the flash update for this. I've been told mine has had the update for the DPF and cruise control problems, not sure I believe it, but we will see.

Just keep driving it auscop, you only have to go 20km out of town don't you?

I drove mine for a day, PITA, but your locals will be used to greys towing vans for max fuel economy......

Will enquire about this. It had the one update in about September for the brake issue. Thanks

Pharmaboy, Had the impression you had to be doing about 100kms an hour to get the filter message to reset. I was driving for about 20 mins after it happened, but only about 4 minutes of it was at 100kph +

Cheers.
This describes the problem I had. Problem was in the EGR (the exhaust gas return manifold) It is cooled by radiator water. My EGR developed a leak, pressurised water was then introduced into the inlet manifold. Water in this area is a BIG no no, it causes massive detonation. Once motor heats up, the reverse happens, exhaust manifold gases are then inducted into the radiator system. When towing our van, motor went into "super overheat" Oil 148 degrees. Running around town, it was only a bad injector rattle, motor was not working hard enough to overheat.
This is coming up 4 months ago, car is still in the workshop awaiting parts !!!
Im now driving a petrol overland, which has been waiting for a windscreen for almost 3 months (according to OBriens, Im one of 4 ) This is my 3 rd Grand Cherokee, and the last . Jeep Aus and Mopar aus are totally impotent, wrecking a great vehicles reputation.

Holy Crap Barry, You know how to cheer a guy up. Here I am bitching as my GC has to go in to get fixed (engine wise) for the first time in 10 months and then I read your post. I was the first person in OZ (possibly the world) that needed a new windscreen in July last year and I only had to wait 6 weeks as there were no spare ones available world wide and they needed to be made. I would be demanding a new car if I was in your shoes..

Thanks mate. The tyres fitted to my car is KUMHO 265/60 R18 , M+S, SOLUS KL21. I looked up KUMHO website, KL21 is highway tyre.

I just had another closer look at front tyres which overall have 1/3 of tread left compared to rear tyres, and outer edge is the worst (treads almost gone). I suspect that the wheel alignment done by dealer at 1000km was toe-out. I called the dealer today and raised the issue, and was told that they can only do one alignment for free, but happy to check the car again. So I'll drop the car in this week.

I'm bemused to see so much tread being worn on front tyres, compared to rear tyres which still look 'new'. When I looked Driveline in EVIC display (high way driving), only front part got highlighted, does it mean that during normal driving condition, it's only front wheel drive, and 4wd is only on demand? That would explain why front tyres is a goner. But I would think JGC is a constant 4WD.

Call a couple of tyre stores for a quote on new all-terrain tyres, average $300 per tyre.
