Nah, you can't get it to reset - it's futile, the computer says no.

But, it's only a limp home mode, not a self destruct countdown. It just sticks it in 4th so you can't over stress the engine, or the transmission. Come to think of it, I don't think I've heard of anyone who has gone into limp home mode for a reason that was real.....

( that goes for boats too, which are notorious for assuming the worst, when it's always just a sensor to blame )

HI All, Just checking over the fluid levels and opened the radiator cap on the reservoir bottle, I could see there was a brown slimy film on the inside. Car has done only 12000km. Has anyone elso noticed this in their radiator reservoir?

Yes. Oil in the radiator. Usually a sign of a blown head gasket, or worse.
To the dealer ASAP.

Yep mine is the same at 10k service they said its common, it is a coating that coats the alluminium components within the engine. :

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi All, thanks for all your replies. It is slimy, but not oily. When rubbing between your fingers it evaporates. It it was oil, it would not evaporate.

CK56, did they say it woud eventually dissolve?

This is coming up 4 months ago, car is still in the workshop awaiting parts !!!
Did you have coolant loss?

I tow a 2.8 tonne ski boat and never have a overheat problem. It get warm going up hills but never overheats. I am not loosing any coolant either.

Cheers.

Almost no coolant loss even thought it boiled momentarily
(steam for a short time)
I should add, I am very happy with the Overland 3.6.(tows very much like my CRD)...its just the lack of backup service and parts that is scarey

For those interested in the CV Boot failure issue (and a bunch of other issues) please read http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchResults

Do we have a on-line site (www) similar to this in Australia?

For those not interested, have a nice day. Happy GC motoring.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just visited my mechanic who checked the sludge in the radiator reservoir tank and found it to be normal. It can be cuased by the coolant itself, but most probably residue during the engine build process.
