Might change mine to your approach Auscop. I'll take a look at it when we meet up.

Thanks all for the thumbs up. Russell, not a problem. Wish I had some spare mesh to give you but I tried a couple of things and kind of wasted a bit. Looking forward to catching up.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

CRAPPY CHRYSLER CAMERA!!!

G'day all,
I am sick and tired of Jeep Aust and their bullshit attitude with their customers. They forget we are their bread and butter.

It took 4 months to get my camera after vehicle delivery, partly because I waited 2 months in the hope that a better quality camera would be available by then.
Sadly disappointed as are many of us.

So, as Mao said "First step on a journey of a thousand miles' or something like that.

* Official complaint to the dealer in writing.
* Official letter to Chrysler,Jeep,Fiat,Dodge,RAM, Alfa Aust or whatever their name is this week.
* Negative response from the two abovenamed parties (in writing of course) and then a submission to Consumer Affairs Victoria.

Points of complaint include;
* Misleading advertising in their brochures, online and hard copy. That includes the printed word and in image form.
* Misuse of the registered trademark "ParkView" camera for the MY14 Laredo
* Supplied camera does not conform to the descrition identified as "ParkView" camera

I have detailed information extracts from the USA describing the "ParkView" trademark registered to the Chrysler group LLC.
I have Chrysler Part Numbers for the Ltd and Overland "ParkView" camera's.

This information was asked for and obtained from within Fiat/Chrysler USA.

Only additional information I need now is;
* Photo images of the non conforming supplied camera's by Chrysler Jeep Aust.
* Technical details of the non conforming camera supplied by Chrysler Jeep Aust. eg. pixels and resolution details.
* Photo and technical details of the "ParkView" camera fitted to the Ltd and Overland.

My contact within Chrysler Fiat Jeep USA advises me that the supplied "ParkView" camera for the Ltd and Overland in the USA retails for US$265.00. (Their parts list price)

My bet is that Chrysler Jeep Fiat Aust cost for the non conforming MY14 Laredo camera does not come anywhere near that dollar figure.

Fellow MY14 Laredo owners, can you advise me of any further Points of Proof that I may have missed before I start compiling my submission.
I realise that Consumer Affairs Victoria can only facilitate a resolution between the parties; ie myself and Chrysler Fiat Jeep Aust.

But if an outcome is in my/our favour then it rolls over to an Australia wide verdict with each of the States accepting it as precedence and implementing the verdict.

The ACCC may also be interested in this complaint as well.

Hope to hear from any of you on this matter. I will be submitting this on other Jeep forums too.

Bluey

Those points you make in the submission are good, as they relate to the false, misleading or deceptive conduct provisions of the Act.

Also put in that the non ParkView camera as supplied by Jeep Aus for the Laredo is not fit for purpose as it is unusable both at night and in bright direct sunlight. This relates to the fit for purpose parts of the Act.

Thanks for that Chooke QC.

Every little bit helps.

Good luck Hymer. I hope that they don't try and hide behind their little disclaimer where "specs and accessories may change without notice" or something like that.

I would caution "unusable in bright DIRECT sunlight" as mine is Park View which is indeed unusable in bright DIRECT sunlight.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

MY14 Laredo Reverse Camera Update.
Information received that a Melbourne Company called Lumen supplies Jeep Aust with the MY14 Laredo reverse camera (aftermarket)

I had a deep and meaningful discussion with Lumen and got a prompt reply to my email.
Yes they had the contract to supply wiring harness/loom and camera for the MY11/12/13 Laredo's.

BUT they only have a contract to supply the wiring harness/loom for the MY14 Laredo and NOT the camera.

Jeep Aust source their own substandard (cheap) camera. The camera's fitted to the MY14 Ltd and Overland cost US$265 each so I bet my left testicle that Jeep Aust are not outlaying that much for the Aust MY14 Laredo camera!!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

MY14 Rear Camera;

Just cranking up on my submission to Consumer Affairs Victoria.
Have now got a lot of supportive evidence for the claim against Jeep Aust

One piece of evidence I need to provide is photographic evidence of the quality of the MY11/12/13 Grand Cherokee Laredo's rear camera compared against the current MY14 Grand Cherokee Laredo camera in terms of picture quality and resolution in a number of situations.

Therefore my request is for a MELBOURNE based owner of a MY11/12/13 Grand Cherokee Laredo to contact me for a photo shoot of the relative rear camera's quality.

If any are willing to help me in this please Private Message (PM) me on this and we can exchange details for the shoot.

I am willing to travel to most parts of Melbourne for it. I live in Cheltenham

Ideally the photos should be shot in bright sunlight, dull daytime, dusk and night time periods. So people knowing Melbourne all those conditions would happen here in a relativel short space of time in a day.

I now have documented evidence that Jeep Aust MY11/12/13 Laredos were supplied with both wiring looms and the camera by a Melbourne company.
They also said that for the MY14 Laredos they only supply the wiring looms and NOT the camera. That is supplied by Jeep Aust.

So the final bit of evidence I need is the make and technical qualityof the substandard rear camera supplied by Jeep Aust for the MY14 Laredo.

Any help with the two abovementioned requests please contact me.

Thanks for that

Bluey

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

At least one person on here has replaced the camera with a cheap camera off ebay. Perhaps he might be able to advise any identification on the original camera he removed.
