Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Getting mine done on Thursday, I plan on buying the oil from SuperCheap and taking it there. Last time they charged me $152.00 for oil. Sells at SuperCheap for about $76. Mind you my guess is if I do that they will just charge me an extra hour of work to get their money back.

Speaking of services, I am also getting a small oil leak fixed. Not 100% sure where it is but they claim they may need it two days as to fix it they need to remove the manifold. Not sure I believe them as the leak strangely started after the 10000km service... Anyone else had issues with oil leaks???

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

We're in Alice Springs at the start of a Kimberley trip. Dropped in on Auscop - many thanks to him and his family for the hospitality. We compared a few things, and discussed our Jeeps of course. I do like the black, and particularly the blue/brown trim.
I have posted this in the tech thread, but I'll do it here as well - my outside temp is reading 10 - 15 deg low ( as in 8 when it's low 20's outside). Any ideas? Anyone know where the sensor is so's I can check it physically? The climate control thinks it's cold and sends out hot air, which in the Kimberley's next week will be a pain. Manual, overide of the temp seems to largely work.
Thanks,
Russell

Aus - I think from memory that Bigskiddy had reported a leak at some stage. Might be worth searching his posts. I think it was him.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Auscop, I found a diagram of where the external temp sensor is supposed to be -best I can tell is it is in the centre slightly below the grill. Exactly where ARB would have been working and cutting when fitting the bar. Did you see the sensor when you had the bash plates off by any chance, and if so, did it look close to where the ARB work would have been?
Thanks,
Russell

Russell, I am willing to bet the wire I found dangling near the drivers side front wheel was the temp sensor. I had no idea what it was so I shoved it in side near the drivers side bash plate on the bull bar. Had about 3 wires going in to it, the front of the sensor I think was yellow and was round, diameter was not much more than a pencil, and had 3 small holes in it. Chances are you may find it if you remove the drives bash plate, but it may be a bugger to find. Looks like ARB are consistent at least.

So what oil will you be getting for $76 that runs in the Jeep CRD, bearing in mind that you need 7.7 litres?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

If it's a yellow sensor I'd be VERY careful, as yellow is universal for airbag sensors.

I had a leak from the transfer case. It too started just after the 10000km service. All fixed now.

Swampy, That was my next question.. How many litres did I need. I was going off 5 L, so bearing in mind there is almost 8L needed then I guess their price ain't too bad. But to answer you question I was looking at Valvoline Synpower XL-III 5W-30, this is what they put in at the 10K service.
