Bigskiddy, How long did they have your car for? They have told me they need it for 2 days?

Thanks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Well for about the 5th time this week I have removed the bash plate from the bull bar. Here are a couple of photos of the sensor/plug/thingy I found dangling in the open near my drivers side front wheel. I vaguely remember thinking I saw it behind the front grill with the blue bit facing out before the bull bar was put on.

Any ideas what it is?

When I got my 10,000km service done in Melbourne, they used 9 litres.

I have just asked them what oil they used and they said Mopar 5w30.

The Valvoline oil Auscop is using doesn't appear to certify compliance with the Chrysler spec.

They initially told me a week but then did it in a day. I think they had some cars cancel so had nothing else on.

I took mine off today looking for the temp sensor, but could not find any loose plugs. Looks like yours fell out of a panel somewhere judging by the trim plug, and it sure could be a temp sensor (I always thought an air speed indicator would be great - maybe it's a pitot tube!). Actually, having seen this photo, I could search a bit more specifically. But boy, getting that bottom bolt back in is tricky - does yours have a loose nut and washer on the centre plate to screw into?
So all the info I can find is that the sensor is in the centre of the car, under the grill. I went to ARB today and asked if the bar install interfered with the sensor at all, and was told that it did not. The guy, who seemed to know what he was talking about (they have fitted at least yours) said that was definitely in the centre attached to a support in front of the radiator. But with my new rock stopper grills removed, I can get my hand and a torch in and I can pretty much guarantee there is no sensor in front of the radiator.
Which makes the location of your loose plug all the more probable. Look for holes the trim plug fits in - although I bet you've already done that.

PS still in Alice. Been to desert park, and Ross River, trephina gorge and Arltunga. Eastern McDonnell is amazing country.

G'day Russell, yep had the same issue with the bottom bolt. I had a spare clip in nut lying around the right size so I put that on the first time I removed it. I will look closer tomorrow but I doubt it is there. Need to look at another GC without a bull bar to see if the plug / thingy is behind the grill like I think it should be. Glad you are enjoying the Alice.

Thanks mate, forgot to mention I have a CRD, I am trying to avoid the expensive spare parts cost, last service the oil filter was $164.
and wondering how much the other parts cost.

Geforce, Are you sure it wasn't the oil that cost $164? I had the filter (CH68109834AA) on my CRD replaced at 10000 K service it was $75.40 for the filter, and $152 for the oil. If you were sounds like you may have been ripped off..

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

in the US, they sell a oil change kit, for the MY14 GC CRD which includes filter, and 10qts of Mobil ESP for under $100.
makes you wonder.
