When I ordered my Laredo in july 2013 , I was told by salesman it was same as Limited , but was being fitted in Australia. As Jeep Australia took to long finalizing what was going to be in Laredo. After getting it fitted a few months later .I complained about what poor quality it was, and at night its just a blurry mess. The answer I got was "unfortunately the camera is low definition and is functioning as designed". I said well its not doing what its designed to do, and that's too see what's behind me when I reverse in bright light or at night. My wife is worried about running over the small kids from next door , who are always running across our large drive way. Service man said Jeep are aware of problem and nothing he can do.

Start by telling the kid's parents to control their brats. It's funny how bad parenting is everyone else's problem now.

Note: That's not to say that the camera shouldn't have an image quality as per advertising.

Well my crappy fisheye had grid markers on it and I could reverse to within 250mm of a pole and be right on the green setting. If I was to go to the red I think the pole would have been under the car.

My biggest concern about this camera is that they cut in to the light bar to fit it. It is clearly not a jeep item, just a stop gap measure

The poor quality of the camera concerns me, particularly when reversing in my mother-in-law's driveway, it impossible to see her cat.
A better camera with active grid lines would help...

No, the active grip lines are pointless in my opinion. I find them less than helpful. I have tried using them several times to back over your mother-in-laws cat, but it is always way off the mark. My cats donít even bother moving because they know the active guides are not a true representation of where the car is. They just get in the car and leave dirt paw prints.

Before anyone reads this and thinks I am horrid for trying to run over someoneís cats, check yourself, and understand black humour.
I will run over you mother-in-law before her cats.

Thanks SNUKE. I wouldn't be in the good books with the Mrs if I did it.

Just make sure if you do you drive forward and back a few times as if you just injured her leg or something you will never hear the end of it from her and your misses.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Yeah, I find those lines are not really representative of where the car is going. Sort of helpful to know which way your wheels are pointed before you start reversing.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Of the subject of cameras and Mother in laws, I have had a few days of and managed to keep the car of wife (Let her drive the old Patrol for a few days). I have washed, dried, vacuumed, polished and waxed the beast but my only problem is the calcium spots on the windows from the hard water up here. I have tried vinegar diluted, CLR diluted, toothpaste straight up but nothing moves it. Does anybody have any other remedies that may work.

Peanut, one sure way of getting totally clear windows. Wind them down. Works every time. Not a spot to be seen anywhere.!!

Bluey

Or get one of these. No windows at all!!

For detailing needs I find Detail Paradise a really good source of info.

Here is something that might help. Bloke in Ipswich with similar issues.
