The front/Rear combo is due to catching most incidents, as that is where the threat will be. I have mine for piece of mind and I like uploading people driving like dickheads to the Dashcam Facebook site.
I was nearly sideswiped by a old fart in a Merc, who was chatting on his phone and trying to write down something. He got a shock when I hit the horn and then gave him a piece of my mind. The window was open and I know the person on the phone would have heard me.
If he had swiped me, it would have been my word against his. The video would have proven his pathetic driving was the cause.

As for the cops, they are actually liking this tech, as it can provide an independent account of what happened. As for removing it, only if it was obstructing your vision. Mine is above the mirror and out of the way.

Also for anyone running them, you DO NOT have to hand them over to the police. They will need a court order to take it from you, or you would need to be under arrest.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Looks like vehicle pickup will be Wed 30th next week. This being my first new car in 15 years (loved my old Nissan Patrol warhorse) just wondering what I should be looking for upon handover. Will ensure all ordered bits are attached, panels straight, no dents etc.

Anything else I should check before accepting the car from the dealer?? Electronic upgrades (given the only thing electronic on the patrol is the battery, new terrain for me!). If you could steer me in the right direction I would be grateful! Trying to put together a checklist to take in and work off on the day. Thanks in advance.

Wow ok thanks Enforcer , it makes sense I'm just old school and never really got into this tech and I don't even have Facebook , to be honest after watching my two kids with Facebook I really hate the bloody thing . My 2 cents worth

Here's a checklist here.
MY14 QA Checklist

Should be right as far as updates go as no new issues have come to light, previous ones such as aircon and DPF should have been fixed at the factory. Your uconnect software may not be the latest but you can do that yourself.
Wheel alignment might be out pulling to the left, but can have that sorted at 1000km check, that's if they do one or you could be bothered.
Hope it goes smoothly.

BTW what variant are you getting?

RPK,
Just make sure that they supply you the NEW MY14 Laredo Rear ParkView tm camera and not the old junk they have been passing on.

Your rear tailgate panel should look like this below, one moulded piece and not the hacksawed crap next to it.
Otherwise , great vehicle. Make sure the oil life is reset to 100% on the EVIC.

Oh, and by the way Red Pee Kay, can you sign my Petition for me for us long suffering Laredo owners re the camera. Thanks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Taking the laredo back tomorrow to the dealership to get the camera fitted. Was told it is the new one, got quoted this part number 1WD55GW7AI. A quick google search brings it up as the the full panel. I will clarify with the service department before I had the keys over just to be sure

If it is the new one ill post back with some operational pictures

I've already told them in writing I ain't accepting it if the old camera is fitted. They assure me either it will be fitted or on order to be fitted! Will check the EVIC per your advice. And filled in your petition some time back!! Thanks again.

Careful there - JA and dealers have a rotten reputation for making good on their "promises".

Once bitten, I would not drive the car off the lot or part with any money until EVERYTHING is correct. I know this is hard when your shiny new car is sitting there - but I've learnt a lot over the last 3 years....
