Sorry, don't know what happened to the first link.

Try this, confirmed that 9 speed transmission is coming to 2015 GC. Some on this forum claimed its not possible.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

NOOOOOO, that only confirms that you have found an old article written by a moron, and it has been confirmed wrong multiple times.
The 9SP can work with the 3.6 only, it can't handle the torque of the 3.0 or V8.
Even if it could, you don't spend all that time and money on engineering for the 8SP, to then drop 18 months later. The only time anyone would consider that is if the box they're putting in, turns out to be a lethal disaster. And I do mean literately responsable for deaths, that would be the only time it would be considered.

I don't understand why anyone expects anything but very minor changes from MY14 to MY15. It just had a major overhaul, it makes no economical sense to be doing that every 12-18 months.

Correct, and there are a few other articles of this type floating around the internet too. They're laughable and not just about the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The same morons have written about other so called 2015 variants of other manufacturers too.

The grammar used in some of these "articles" are quite humorous though

Engineering-wise, I wouldn't consider 2014 model to be a major change compared to 2013's, except for 8 speed transmission. JGC is enjoying a competitive advantage at the moment compared to other SUVs, but only by a very tiny margin; and others are catching up fast. To maintain that lead, a minor changes in 2015 model won't do them a service. Technology evolves so fast that I believe 9 speed will find its way into large diesel SUV at large.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The '14 is just an update, but a fairly major one for a mid model update. They will be doing a full update in '16-'17 range. The JGC is currently wiping the floor with any competition in the price range. The only thing stopping them selling more is their poor dealer network and supply of cars.
There are not many cars that cross so many models/brands as a JGC.

Might wan't to ask the factory guys like Marlon what they think of that comment. Having already seen what they have said, they will tell you're very wrong. It is not economically sound to be updating every year. Sure tech stuff evolves, but it is not as simple as just updating one thing here and there, as no doubt you are fully aware, it is all tied together.

Maybe at some point a 9SP will make it to a large diesel, but at this stage they don't exist. The 9SP is brand new, a first for all cars when it came out in the Cherokee and Range Rover Evoque. There is no business case for it at the moment. It doesn't just cost $30 and a few days of engineering to to these changes. It's thousands of hours and many many millions of dollars.

Yeah, I don't see a huge advantage of the 9 speed over the 8. Bigger news is this:

Follow up for any others complaining about the Laredo reverse camera's. Ours went in for the 20k service and I pre supplied them with my initial complaint and the petition and hymer's outcome.

Well my new camera has been placed on order and they will call when it arrives to be fitted under warranty. Hopefully this will be the case with everyone else who complains.

Goodonyer Createit,

Glad to help on behalf of all disgruntled MY14 Laredo owners.

Dont forget that the applique/panel comes with that kit too. Replaces the camera hole panel with a moulded panel. My dealer said a new cable had to be run from the tailgate to the Uconnect as well.

I still say FCJ Aust are getting off lightly not only in respect to the retrofit of cameras but also their false and misleading advertising regarding the ParkView tm issue. A lawyer would have them over a barrel on that one as well as ASIC.

Lets hope there are plenty of MY14 Laredo squeaky wheels out there.!!
