I haven't noticed much difference if any in the engine response in Sport mode but it's way more fun on a fast windy (as in curves, not wind) road. According to the manual it tunes down the stability control but not off even though the light on the dash said that it is off. It also changes the front/rear torque split from 40/60 to 20/80. That gives it more of a 2WD feel without going into full 2WD. Subject to Sport mode being reasonably economical, I'll be driving in Sport mode whenever on dry bitumen. In the wet I'll want full stability control so it will have to be Auto. The manual makes no mention of the relative economies of the modes only that D is most economical.
