Re: About to Buy a Jeep GC in Brisbane - Advice Needed.

3 years is 60K.
That is odd, 40K is the big service, with 50K slightly behind, this is the first I have seen with them flipped. Something is not right.

I guess it depends on the mileage you do. For me 3 yrs is about 120 -130k, for my wife 3 yrs is less than 30k. Sold her last car with 26k on the odometer and it was 3.5yrs old.

No, from a service standpoint, 3 years or 60,000kms.

Are you saying that selec-speed (hill ascend mode) is now available with the diesel engine with the ORAII option?

Have you got it on your GC?

Your hill descent button, the picture of the car on this button is it horizontal or is it pointed towards downhill?

I wonder if the selec-speed can be enabled on earlier MY14 GC with diesel and ORAII?

Sorry for late reply I'm overseas
The smaller JA brochure showing all options states it's included in the ORA 2
Mine is still sitting at Curtis bay for shipment but this is what I have been told
It's also shown in main brochure

Re: About to Buy a Jeep GC in Brisbane - Advice Needed.

I thought it was available on all MY14s, with the diesel only recently getting it:

New Selec-Speed Control with Hill-ascent and Hill-descent Control allows drivers to control Grand Cherokee's speed both up and down steep, rugged grades with the steering wheel paddle shifters - without the need for throttle or brake pedals (late availability on EcoDiesel)

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Selec-Terrain

Re: About to Buy a Jeep GC in Brisbane - Advice Needed.

Hmm, this is the only other info I've been able to find, not sure if the diesels do get the hill ascent control or not:

Quote:
There are three different things in play here.

The Hill Assist is a brake roll back assist for Hill starts which can be enabled in the Connect Settings system.

Hill Ascent and Hill Descent are the other two. Hill Descent Control is included on the Diesel and can be engaged to maintain down slope speed as Bill as noted. Hill Ascent Control though part of the Select Speed Control system is not on the CRD currently. It allows you to use the paddle shifters to increase and decrease your crawl rate up hill. Last I heard this was not to be implemented on CRD until the 2015 Model Year. I believe this has something to do with some challenges in controlling the throttle and speed of the diesel (not a problem of "doing it" but rather implementing it in a way that gives a proper feel and feedback with the higher torque).

That's the quote cut and pasted from the email from the service manager at Cricks my gravatt .

I live in Brisbane and work at Gold Coast hospital so they are Km / service costs for me. You can extrapolate the data from that to work out your own service charges for your mileage.

Comparing apples with apples the Q7 has been cheaper to service over that period / km, yet a bigger euro engine.

I think those prices are over the top.

Would love to know what others with overland / tdv6 pay in Brissy / Gold Coast?

Kind regards,

Brad.

Re: About to Buy a Jeep GC in Brisbane - Advice Needed.

That pricing is wrong, as others have mentioned the big services are every 40k km.
I only have paid $250 for all my services including the 40k km one as I replaced all the filters and oil myself. If you read what little they do in a service, you would think that $250 is also a ripoff, but I am happy to pay this every 6 months for a dealer stamp in my logbook.

Seems to me the Southport service is the one to go for, from what I've read.

There seems to be some confusion about the 50k service. It appears it is suppose to be a standard service, but that the service book mistakenly states "change automatic transaxle fluid" which is actually a 120k service. This may be why some dealers are quoting high 50k services.

From the other thread, someone got a 40k service at southport for $850.
