Re: About to Buy a Jeep GC in Brisbane - Advice Needed.

There are three different things in play here.

The Hill Assist is a brake roll back assist for Hill starts which can be enabled in the Connect Settings system.

Hill Ascent and Hill Descent are the other two. Hill Descent Control is included on the Diesel and can be engaged to maintain down slope speed as Bill as noted. Hill Ascent Control though part of the Select Speed Control system is not on the CRD currently. It allows you to use the paddle shifters to increase and decrease your crawl rate up hill. Last I heard this was not to be implemented on CRD until the 2015 Model Year. I believe this has something to do with some challenges in controlling the throttle and speed of the diesel (not a problem of "doing it" but rather implementing it in a way that gives a proper feel and feedback with the higher torque).

Benno,

Are you sure we dont get the uphill select speed control on the MY14 with ORA II.....another reason I went with this package?????

Are we sure that the change of service interval for the auto trans is not just applicable to the 8spd? Maybe some of the dealers are interpreting this as applicable to all autos. The ZFs use a quite special long life oil and 120k would be about right.

No, not sure, but I know that it wasn't available due to the engineering issues, and I haven't heard that it is available. I asked my dealer yesterday, his reply was "what's hill ascent control?"

But as I understand it, HAC is available on MY14 limited and overland models, irrespective of ORAII. But this all based on what I've read on the internet, I'm not an authority on it.

Maybe some MY14 petrol owners can shed some light on this. HAC/select-speed is distinguished by the button on bottom left of selec-terrain control with a picture of a jeep on level ground, as opposed to hill descent which shows the jeep facing down hill.

This is from a MY14 hemi with selec-speed:

This is what it would look like if it doesn't have selec-speed/HAC

MY14 Overland CRD with ORAII and we do not have SSC-HAC. The second pic that Benn0 posted is how our centre console looks (with the vehicle pointing down).

Build date April '13.

Yep, but the wk2 jeeps site says 'late availability' for the diesels, so I was wondering it may be now available. Though Milous previously said most likely MY2015

Re: About to Buy a Jeep GC in Brisbane - Advice Needed.

Something is niggling at me Benn0 and I've tried to search but I can't find it about it being on post-August builds.

Sorry just adding - It's niggling at me because I remember being slightly pissed off that we had missed out on it but I could be confusing that p-off feeling with the Start/Stop feature.

-mt gravatt-$1150 !
-albion-$475
-springwood-$550
-frizelles- ~$390

mt gravatt admitted they hadn't fitted it to a my14 before and last time they did rock rails it took 6hrs !

Ok, I'm toying with the idea of doing it myself, Hibernator has a good write up on it over here:
