Adaptive headrests -can they take a dvd screen?

Originally wanted the roof mounted DVD in. 2014 JGC but that clashed with the Plano roof. Dealer tells me he can organise a DVD system in the headrests with 2independent screens running off the Car entertainment system. Sounds cool but I don't completely trust salesmen.

Any problems with the adaptive headrests and DVD systems?

I did search the forum for this but found no comments. If it has been answered a few tips on searching may be needed apologies if that's the case

Re: Adaptive headrests -can they take a dvd screen?

All they can fit are piggyback DVD players that sit behind the headreast.

What we did instead was to fit active iPad holders and bought the kids iPads. They get heaps more use out them then just DVD players as you would espect and can still play movies. It was also cheaper than DVD players.

The active iPad holders charge the ipads and also have wireless headsets for watching movies. The iPads simply slide out of the holders. We are so glad that we went this way and the kids love them, and of course use them all the time.

Another thing that they can do is we can put our iPhones on as a Hot Spot and the kids have mobile internet also.

The holders that we fitted were Next Base Click & Go.

Excellent idea. Thank you.

Did you get them online? Who did the fitting? Thanks for the help

Re: Adaptive headrests -can they take a dvd screen?

Hi

Yes we bought them online, a quick internet search and you should be able to find them. We ended up buying them direct out of Europe as the Australian agent was out of stock at the time.

Be sure to get the correct ones to suit the generation of iPads that you buy.

We had them installed by a Car Stereo type install business, but be sure that they know how to deal with Can Bus car electrical systems as that is what the Jeep is, not the old type wiring systems.

The guys we used in Perth did a realy neat job, the wiring went inside the back of the seat (hard plastic cover) so all you see is a small wiring loop near the headrest. From memory it was pretty cheap to get them wired up, I think it was onlly $150 or less for labour.

The holders are fitted straight to the headrest posts.

If you search on my name, you will find some photos from late 2011 where I had a couple of interior shots that show the holders. They can also be tilted and have a rake / reach type adjustment as well.

Re: Adaptive headrests -can they take a dvd screen?

You can get screens to fir active headrests. Just Google active headrest DVD and you will be spolit for choice. I do however agree with Swampy that an Ipad or tablet would be far more practical and useful, as you can game, surf the web and watch movies.
