Air bag light

Yes, the fault code is apparently related to the harness / loom in the drivers seat. They replaced this harness last year but the same code is showing. I did ask the dealer for details of the code and a copy of their request to JA for assistance but they told me that the JA system was down ( called it "glovebox") and that they would send it to me on Monday. So I'll follow it up then. Dealer said JA are slow at responding to requests for technical assistance - it might take a week or more....

Re: Air bag light

No word from the dealer so I chased them up - basically the guy told me that there was nothing more he could do and referred me to JA. So I'm on my own. Rang JA and have lodged a case (again) and someone will get back to me in "a few days".

Re: Air bag light

There is a brand new SRT owner on Whirlpool his car has been off the road for two months due to water getting into the engine.
Result so far, both dealer and JA saying they don't know why but you shouldn't drive you car in the rain for too long.
They won't provide that in writing saying exactly how far too long is of course.
I feel very happy knowing that JA stand behind their product.

Air bag light

Rolled out fit for purpose yesterday when I was talking to the dealer dude. That was the point where he flicked me to JA.

I'll be filling in an NCAT application when I get a chance - should have taken own advice and got that underway two weeks ago when this all started again.

Perhaps they should investigate an over enthusiastic window washer bottle outlet? Maybe the water from that is trickling down the window, seeping under the bonnet seal and being sucked into the air intake, not being burnt in the ignition and finding its way into the sump?
That thesis is just about as valid as JA's. Probably more likely. Perhaps they should state that their offroad cars should not be driven if there is any likelihood of rain in the surrounding 48hrs or any humidity in the air.
I thought the new JA Managing Director was supposed to put a halt to all this garbage omitted from JA circus clowns.

Well, I seem to have got a result. A few things to confirm, but get ready for another recall....

Air bag light

A short update - I got in contact with JA again on Friday following them getting smacked around by DFT. JA have now advised me that there is a known problem with a control module and several have been replaced on other vehicles already. A redesigned / new module is going to be available in October that will be fitted to vehicles that are presented with the airbag light problems. My problem has been that JA and the dealer (Castle Hill) just won't communicate with each other. Basically if the dealer (operating as an independent franchise) does not ask for help, JA will not step in. This is despite me ringing JA prior to the last episode and virtually begging them to get in touch with the dealer and help them out.

So now following my DFT action I have a commitment from JA that they will manage the replacement of the control module with a new current design module, pending the new design becoming available in October. My car is being booked into Narrellan with the instruction that it is not to leave this dealer until the issue is fixed. An equivalent GC is to be made available to me for the period mine is off the road.

So as usual a whole lot of pain to get JA to do what should have been done months ago.

Re: Air bag light

October is a long way off. You may as well do all your offroading in the loan car. Take care with insurance, and read the fine print.

Re: Air bag light

There are actually 2 interrelated recalls, the P64 for the steering column control module (SCCM) and the P67 for the occupant restraint control module (ORC).

The P64 impacts the electronic stability control. The P67 impacts the front and side airbags and seatbelt pretensioners.

Initial warning of a problem with either will be MIL illumination.

P64: rc_P6414 (1).pdf

P67: rc_P6714.pdf

The new ORC module is just now becoming available here in the US. Some of us are starting to get them replaced.
