Re: Air bag light

Thanks for the links MDBones. I'm aware of the P67 recall and I actually gave a copy of this to the dealer on 20/3/14, but here in Aus it is noted for MY14 GC - mine is a MY12. So the dealer said it did not apply.

Here is a link to the Australian recall notice.

https://www.recalls.gov.au/content/i...itemId/1066574

But as a result of me pushing the issue, JA have got their act sorted and have now agreed that it seems to apply to my car too.

What a farce.

And by the way - I have a new "friend" at JA - Manager Automotive Care. If anyone wants his name and number send me a PM.

Don't you just love that?

Sorry, I guess I didn't read back far enough to see you have a 12. I'd be willing to bet that it's still the same module. At least they're agreeable to replacing it for you. Good luck!

Re: Air bag light

It isn't getting any easier. Tried to book my car in at Narrellan and despite having a JA case number they just weren't interested. As far as they were concerned they would treat me as a normal retail customer and charge me $130 to diagnose the problem and then quote to fix. Recovery of costs would be my problem to chase back through JA.

So I've left 3 phone messages back with JA.....

I hate Jeep Australia.

Air bag light

I've managed to get the regional service manager involved and I have just dropped off my car at waitara - they think they will need it for 1 - 2 weeks so they can diagnose and fix once and for all. Currently on the train going to pick up a hire car. A reliable Toyota I think....

When I dropped off my car they noted yet another recall - R09, I think to do with the fuel pump.

If the quality of switch gear in the Mondeo is an indication of the upcoming Everest - time will tell.....

First thing I look at with every car now is the torque. If it stays the same as the Ranger, it will 100Nm less than the GC. I like the Rangers, I hear the airbag lights stay off too.

Re: Air bag light

I agree - I tow so torque is a huge factor for me. My MY12 has 550 torques - Ranger ( and assume Everest) is 470 so that is a deficit of 80. You can chip a Ranger up to 520. So we are down to 30 torques.

I towed my boat behind commodores for years - a supercharged VZ with 375 and a VE with 340.

I think I could live with the small loss of power if an Everest comes with a less hyperactive airbag light.

I think the GC is fantastic but the niggly faults say jeep don't deserve my repeat business. The jeep is now a 5 year old design and presumably Everest will be the ducks guts in regard to new technology. I'm a car floater and not brand loyal. I don't care if it is a jeep, Holden or whatever - it just needs to be the best (which means different things to different people) available at the time. I ain't going to cut off my nose despite my face - Everest will have to be the goods to get me out of my Jeep.

Re: Air bag light

So I'm still jeepless. Off the road for another week makes 2.5 weeks this year. We will see what happens next week....,

But I'm thankfully for jeep giving me the opertunity to sample other manufacturers offerings - enjoying the Mondeo at the moment.

Re: Air bag light

So I got my GC back today - two and a half weeks.

The dealer and state service manager reckon they traced the fault to a dodgy connector under the drivers seat. New connector fitted and tested for a few days. Seems to be all good now.

Gave them my speech about the need for JA to adequately respond to customer concerns. Blah Blah Blah.

We shall see.....
