Air bag light

Off to see the dealer tomorrow - my air bag warning light stays on. Its been like this for a few days. It did the same thing a few months ago but turned itself off after a week or so.

Wish me luck....

Re: Air bag light

Dealer found a loose connection under the drivers seat. I keep my hat under the seat so I might of bumped the connector.

Dealer did not charge me anything - so no harm done.

Next time remove the hat before the dealer finds it.

So my airbag light is on again. It started coming on about two weeks ago intermittently - going off and on every 5 minutes or so. Very annoying as it pings every time it comes on.

Over the weekend it is now on permanently. I'm due for a service so ill get the dealer to look at it.

And I've stopped keeping my hat under the seat.

Re: Air bag light

I had the same problem. Intermittent light then stayed on all day. Cleared everything out from under both seats. I didn't want to completely disconnect/reconnect the seat sensor wires so I just pushed the wires on each side towards the connector. Result: no airbag light pic of connector is attachedImageUploadedByJeepGarage1402203999.330651.jpg

I posted about this on the service cost thread. My issue seems to be the loom / connectors under the drivers seat - something is crook there. Dealer has tried tightening up the connectors and wiggling stuff but problem keeps coming back intermittently. Dealer ended up ordering a complete loom for under the seat. I have not had a chance to book in to get it fitted yet.

Re: Air bag light

I'm booked in to get the new loom fitted for my airbag light problem next Wednesday and the list of issues the dealer needs to resolve is growing.

Airbag loom replacement
noisy aircon fan
brake booster recall
rear demister not working

and new problems this week

cruise control will not set
parking brake warning light won't go out

I'm starting to get a quite few niggly problems and I'm getting worried as I approach the end of warranty and my lease period in 5 months. I might ring JA and get a case number for the issues in case they drag on getting fixed.

I went and test drove a Pajero today. Horrible to drive but maybe a bit of old school low tech is the way to go? Steel bash plates and 4 (!!!!) tow hooks.

Re: Air bag light

It's off the topic, and apologies for that, but the cruise control and parking brake light are very likely related.........there have been lots of reports that the wire to the park brake switch is a fraction short on the export models and pulls off the switch.
Some fiddling around to get a bit of extra wire out from under the carpet and a push back on solves that.
Might be worth a quick look to see if that is the problem.

Yeah, I thought that too. My wife is away with my car for a few days, so I'll have a look on Tuesday.

Re: Air bag light

So after today's expedition to the dealer for the various work on my car:

Airbag light - ordered the wrong replacement loom, passenger side instead of drivers side. Correct loom reordered.

Noisy air con fan - pollen filter box found to be open and filter not fitted correctly. Box resealed and closed correctly.

Brake booster recall - completed

Park brake warning light - wire found to be rubbing against foot brake and insulation worn off causing short. Wire replaced and re routed.

Cruise control would not set - flash 18-19-27-90 applied.

Rear demister not working - wire connector broken at screen could not be repaired. New screen required and on order from melb, in stock so should be at the dealer in a few days.

So some success and some items still to be done. Another trip to the dealer in a week or so I guess. And the original problem of the airbag light still ongoing after 9 months. The rear screen is a pest, my windows are tinted and they won't replace that. And worst of all I'm going to lose my Jeep Garage sticker....

Id get a second opinion on the rear screen. Ive had many repaired. Go to a good tint shop.
