Hi there,
Could I trouble you for the link to that thread? The bulb holders are definately scorched due to over heating and the residue is clearly a result of that. Are you saying a "a factory condition" they are made like that??

OK, checked at a dealer today: No clouds on new vehicle lamps, no scorched sockets. Not the way it is supposed to be - another failure!
(BTW all the new vehicles had popped out bumpers....)

Re: Anyone else with burnt/damaged DRLs?

Just replaced my DRLs with 7443 Q5+, from ebay, they work Great, no diodes needed..

Looks much better, have put in order to have my reflectors replaced under warranty..

Didn't what to change reflector, untill had leds.. Done 16,000 Klms sockets quite burnt..

Re: Anyone else with burnt/damaged DRLs?

The damage on mine is not factory. There is visible heat damage to the socket and reflector. I also have pictures of my headlights when the car was new and they were nice and clean.

Re: Anyone else with burnt/damaged DRLs?

Enforcer, didn't you briefly switch to LED's a while ago and then had problems with the DRL's? Have you since tried or will you now try the lights that are being purchased by everyone now?

Re: Anyone else with burnt/damaged DRLs?

I did try the LED's, but the CAN bus threw a wobbly and they stopped working.
The dealer re-enabled them and I have been running the OEM globes since.

Re: Anyone else with burnt/damaged DRLs?

Had another look at the brake lights and there is actually what looks like a hole right over the top of the bulb in the older lamp. It is hard to get on picture because of reflections but you can vaguely see a dark spot at the same height in the picture as the cloud over the socket. The newer lamp does not have this.

Re: Anyone else with burnt/damaged DRLs?

It may be more useful if instead of quoting klms travelled, you quote engine hrs. It is obtained from the EVIC readouts.
I think that would be a better indicator of how long the DRL's have been lit before they show damage.

It's clearly a factory provided cooling vent

They did change the whole light assy and yes, the $1933 is the warranty price and retail is $3100. I only had the left side of the veh done (head/taillight) as they were still waiting for the rest to come in.

The service manager did state the new taillight assy has new plugs and had to be rewired for the veh.
