For Michael Manley try email 'todd.goyer@chrysler.com'. I assume Goyer is a minder.

Re: Anyone Interested In Petitioning HQ in US?

Thanks GM....

We need to construct 1 reasonable email that lists primary issues in point form. So, to keep our rant simple, factual and to the point I suggest we need:

  • Names, VIN's and email addresses (maybe PM'd to someone)
  • as many willing participants as possible to sign up. I don't think this particular thread has reached the full audience potential of upset / disgruntled GC owners down here. Need some ideas on getting the message out to the wider community (if we can).
  • we need to agree on the content of legitimate concerns we have with CJD Australia based on our actual experiences but in summary form. I think most of the "biggies" are listed in 1st post below but others may also need to be listed.
Ultimately we don't want them to "round file" our concerns, we want them to action and we want tangible results otherwise we're wasting our time.

Jeep are co-sponsoring the Olympics on 9 so the heavy advertising exposure will continue which is great but the backlog of disgruntled Jeep owners will simply grow with new sales making it harder for us to access parts and service.

So if we're keen, let's do it otherwise we'll just have to learn to accept we've all bought great cars from a manufacturer with very poor representation in Australia.

Re: Anyone Interested In Petitioning HQ in US?

Just got the news I didn't want on my son's brand new JK taken off the road the last few weeks due to a failed brake booster detected when new. The replacement part due in next week is pushed back to the end of August due to "warehouse changes and subsequent backlog in Melbourne". I can buy one from the US ( $181 USD plus delivery) delivered next week. OK its a warranty fix but WTF.
I'm in!!

ACA on channel 9 is always on the hunt for good media issues. New Facebook page?

I also thought of somehow supporting Gribbs with his CTTT case without affecting hopefully a positive outcome, a show of strength in numbers that we are not accepting this piss poor aftersales. For F%^ sake, companies like Hyundai are setting the standard in customer satisfaction. My family have spent $120,000 with Jeep over the last few months and now feel rubber dicked because of apathy in the system that needs to be exposed.

May I ask what your issue was with the service book?
I am driving the 3.6 V6 and my service book does not include this engine. I would be very interested in a solution to the service as I am not going to let them change spark plugs after 2 years/48k km (as the generic service book says and dealer has confirmed they will), mine will probably have done ca. 24k km. Bad for the engine and bad for my wallet! Jeep Australia just don't give a shit about you - they just want to maximise their profit. And they don't have spare parts - it sucks!

Re: Anyone Interested In Petitioning HQ in US?

I'm in too. I recently smashed the the "air inlet baffle" that sits behind the air dam, Mopar part #5165706AA. www.oemworldparts.com in the States lists it at $62.30. For a piece of underbody light plastic molding, that might seem high but read on.. The list price I was quoted here in Australia was $300+. I can't remember the exact price because I was too shocked. That is just criminal.

I've been trying to get the part from the States but suppliers are reluctant to ship because of the bulk. It's quite light but largish and apparently that bumps up the freight rate. They can't understand why I'd be prepared to pay triple what it's worth just to get it. When I get it, I'll measure it up and try and make up a spare. It is quite a fragile item. Any bump to the air dam and the air inlet baffle is likely to shatter into many bits as mine did so be careful. Luckily the air dam doesn't rely on it entirely for support.

Re: Anyone Interested In Petitioning HQ in US?

At this stage I haven't had any issues. But am concerned for the spare parts price gouging and apparent lack of availability. I do like an earlier suggestion to buy our own parts in from the states under a cooperative kind of agreement. Would take some doing but I imagine the membership would balloon once it was out there. I'd imagine dealers would even use it. In the first instsnce, i'll sign the petition and if we don't get any satisfaction. I'd be willing to be part of a committee to start a buying cooperative.
