Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

2 years old tomorrow, 26,000kms, great economy, tows the boat a treat especially around the Tassie highlands, really good dealer experience,.
A couple more little storage holes a round the dash would have been nice, (but at least I dont carry as much crap now).

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

I've had my Jeep for 1.5 years now and 25K miles. Every time I have taken it to the dealer for recalls and oil change, they have given me great service.

I don't regret buying my Jeep for a minute...

well... other than every so often wishing that I had bought the HID package and the annoyance of the Nav maps being almost a decade out of date...

I get it that your dealer is busy. However, if it was me I would have pushed the air bags issue so hard that executives in Detroit could hear me coming a mile away.

To me, air bags are a necessity for personal safety, especially since I drive at highway speeds every day in heavy traffic. I would have refused to drive the car another foot until they fixed the problem. If I had to leave the car and they had to get me a rental (on their dime, of course), so be it. I'd flat out remind them that a life is more important than the 5 to 10 oil changes that they have lined up. Maybe a bit dramatic, but sometimes people need reminding about what is important in life to get them to re-examine their priorities.

Fortunately, as I said earlier, I have a really good dealer. From the service so far, I have confidence in them. But, I haven't had any major issues yet, so we will see down the line.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

No regrets at all.
I've spent many months working and holidaying in the USA.
Reminds me of many good hours traveling up and down the I5 & 14 in our SUV. Now I have a little bit of the USA in my garage.
My daughter calls it our adventure Jeep...
Love my 8 Speed trans, so smoooooth (touch wood) it stays that way.

Now its time to learn how to 4X4 an explore the land Downunder..

Good spot. I think its alcohol deprivation more likely, no booze this week.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

I don't regret it at all, had my first WK2 (a MY12) for 2.5yrs and 50k. I then upgraded to a MY14 that now has about 3k on the clock. The first one spent a few days in the shop but based on how much I love driving these trucks I got over that pretty quick.

I'm a car agnostic and nothing in the class touches the GC in my opinion.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

Perhaps the OP would not have considered selling his Jeep had the service department been more helpful. Ultimately, these vehicles are only as good as the dealerships customer service.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

I came from driving a Evo X, yes basically a souped up lancer. Only reason why I sold the car was because we were going to start a family, my wife tells me the evo isnt a family car low & loud so considered a few from crv's, x-trails and utimately the jeep. without knowing what I was getting into I jumped on it, tick what I needed, Maybe its just because mine was the first few MY14 off the lot which was basically a development car to see what went right and what went wrong and recall or fix it along the way.

And yes, maybe Its the dealership thats putting me into selling the car. Its got everything I want / more than what I need. But every 4-5 months back to the dealership with different problems? I dont think thats reliable to say the least.

my beaten up 2000 CE mirage / Lancer with 3xxxxx k's works better than the brand new jeep.

I know comparing the jeep to Bmw sedan is wrong. but for the jeep $$$ i couldve easily gotten myself a Demo 520D with more luxuries minus the Off road capabilities of the jeep that I would probably never use. I wouldve just needed the jeep to tow a Jetski or something.

thanks for all the replies, I might have one of the freak jeeps. Its good to see that no one is regretting the car.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

I actually went from a BMW520d to a GC Overland. The 520d couldn't always go where the GC could. I am still trying to sell the 520d and take it out of the garage occasionally and it is still the nicest car I have driven. One thing that is very noticeable is the "weight" difference between the two cars. I have no regrets about moving to a Jeep

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

The jeep is much heavier - 2.4 tonnes v about 1.6. You only notice it at the start or doing tight turns. Different cars for different drives. Acceleration is better (GC) as it is 3.0L v 2.0. It costs around $30 a month more in diesel but then insurance is $30 per month cheaper (GC) 😎
