Anyone regret buying the GC?

As per the title im starting to regret buying the JGC. for the price i bought it for with all the recalls, problems with the car. I think now i shouldve bought myself a nice 320d with a lot of change in my pocket.

the last straw was when my parents borrowed the car and in the middle of a 10 hour drive the "srs service" sign comes up, ofcouse with jeeps best customer service telling me dont worry about its fine, if you get into an accident the airbags might not deploy. But its okay to drive! worst part is i couldnt even have them to look at the car because they are to busy!

looking at selling now, buy a 320d / 520d which i shouldve done the first time round.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

No regrets so far, but I'm only 6 months in. Might go to an everest if it starts becoming a problem.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

Zero regrets. Closing in on 40,000kms now with no issues. Would purchase again in a heartbeat.

Actually... I just did stick my nose in the Jeep trough again and have a brand new week and a half old KL.

Definitely do not regret buying my GC, despite poor dealer service and initial oil leak. I love this car. Why?

Because I use the car for it's intended purpose, pulling a 2ton caravan, driving it in mud, dust and snow to fit my lifestyle. Realistically their is probably only about 5 cars on the market that fit the requirements that I need a vehicle to have. Only 1 that I could afford.

If I needed a vehicle to drive to the shops and stay on the bitumen, I would have upgraded my 98 Hyundai Excel to an i20, which would have only occurred after it had died, and it looks like that Excel might out last me.

I understand your regret for buying the GC if you were considering it against a BMW. What I don't understand is why you even considered buying a GC.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

There are plenty that regret it and have been members on JG.
Personally very happy with it 1 year into ownership. No issues with it, tows our horses brilliantly and can't be beaten on price for equivalent.
If a 320D was a possible option when we were looking, then there is no chance in hell I would have gotten a GC, or any 4WD for that matter. The two are both cars but apart from that shouldn't be on the same shopping list. I wouldn't have gotten a 320D either, but that is me.

1.5 Years and 10,600 miles and not one issue/problem. Two oil changes and thats it. No recalls performed yet.

I can't believe they are making you wait for an airbag issue. That should have priority.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

No Regrets and can deal with most issues as it performs very well.
It would be nice to own one though as this thread is suggesting, that's not being returned to the dealers every 3 months for updates and glitches.

Anyone regret buying the GC?

No regrets as such - great car that suits our lifestyle and unbeatable at the price. The poor dealer and JA service is what has cause me frustration. Action through DFT, a quicklift at 3 months, sand failures, recovery hooks, crazy service costs, short warranty etc is what has bummed me out.

My lease is just about up and I should have placed an order for a new car by now. But as i have not seen a noticeable improvement from JA et al I'm not going round again with a new GC. I have just signed up to extend my lease for another 12 months so I can wait for some new vehicles to be released next year, Everest in particular.

GC served its purpose well over the last 3 years but going forward....maybe not....

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

No regrets at all other than too much chrome coming up on 3 years 20k miles. Just oil changes so far. Still getting over 20 mpg of 87 PON alone, 17-18 pulling 3500 lb travel trailer. Did replace the Goodyears early with Michelins since it does tend to rain here.

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

Thats interesting, I sold my 320d wagon (2011) to buy the GC !

No regrets for us, very impressed with the GC 2014 Laredo CRD. Taken it into the desert, Adelaide to Yulara, Kings Canyon, Glen Helen etc. All good.

We needed extra space and ability to tow a trailer plus the occasional off road capability. Very happy so far. We did have to push Jeep Aust to get our reversing camera fixed no use just asking dealer which is a bit annoying but fixed in the end.

Hope you get yours addressed to enjoy it soon.

With the GC the tow bar was ~$900 instead of $3,500 for the 320d

Re: Anyone regret buying the GC?

I have no regrets, but my wife gives me grief on an almost daily basis that I bought a car that only has 5 seats.
Mind you, we downgraded her Volvo XC90 to a Ford Focus as she didn't want a big car herself anymore, therefore it was my turn to drive the big 7 seater, but I just couldn't find anything I wanted in that configuration and the Jeep ticked all MY boxes, but not hers...

Yeah, I get a bit of grief about selling the cruiser to buy the jeep. She liked being a passenger in cruiser, but wouldn't drive it. I didn't like driving it either....
