Installed the Provent and keep getting a check engine light for PCV system venting/disconnected. Not sure if its the Provent being so large or if mine has a leak. Anyone running one of these with no CEL?
Had a look but can't remember where I put it. Basically I just used some cardboard to template it up (with the help from my father - benefits of having a good production engineer). Then cut it from 5 or 10mm aluminum plate that I had lying around. It did need to be bent as the pipe work didn't quite line up properly. I am probably redoing the pipe work with silicone and alloy bends as I am not quite happy with the current tubes. If so I will see about taking the bracket off and do another template for you
Mine is almost mounted in the same spot, but I used the airbox as the support. Gotta figure out why mine keeps tripping an engine code. Maybe my Provent is defective/has a leak or something.
Well this is a real head-scratcher. I left the engine running and used spray-bubble soap on all the lines to check for any leaks. None. Then opened up the top of the Pro-Vent and clearly there was tons of fumes/exhaust coming from the PCV system. Put the top back on, disconnected the hose that leads into the intake with associated sensor. Visible exhaust coming out of that (less white as obviously going through filter. So mechanically, everything is working as advertised.
Not sure why I constantly get this PCV disconnected CEL. Does anyone know what exactly that sensor is measuring on the intake tube that the PCV exhaust goes through? You guys in Australia that have the Pro-Vent with his diesel and doesn't get a CEL. Then again, you have different emissions systems on their diesels. So strange this issue...
EDIT: Looking at the Aussie pics above, looks like US Diesels have another sensor that they don't:
The sensor in question is just to the left of the intercooler hose and has a label on it. There is another output on the air/pump or crankcase ventilator system that isn't on the Aussie pics. Wonder if that is what is causing my problem, and how does it know I have a catch can installed?
Another option for catch cans - Western Filters at Blacktown now have a kit available. Looks very professional and stock. My brother in Law
loaned them his Jeep so they could work out the kit and brackets etc, so he got his for free, but apparently they are going to sell the kit for $350.

Hi all I just bought the Provent kit from Western Filters very good to deal with. Only problem when I fitted the bracket the Provent rubbed on the brake lines so had to bend the bracket about 30mm to the front of the car. Fits well not rubbing on any pipes or hoses. Started car no codes all good.
