Re: Anyone used moparpartsoverstock.com?

I'm off to the US in a couple of weeks and was going to try and buy some bits whilst over there and arrange to send them back myself, just gotta work out how.

Any advice?

No advice Matty470 but I am happy to send you my shopping list

Still waiting for an accurate price on shipping from Mopar Parts Overstocked, Fingers crossed and really hoping they are going to come back with a reasonably figure.

Quiet surprised no one seems to have gone down this road before that or they are keeping it to themselves - I did email Just for Jeeps awhile back and they said that they could not do anything on shipping rates for things like the Skid Plates but I still think it would work out cheaper than buying here?

Would just need to make sure that whats ordered is correct, sending it back for an exchange/refund wouldn't be an option.

Hi Matty,

Last time I was there I found for small items that the US postal service is fairly cheap and convienient. For large/heavy items the best way is to use a importer who has an address in the US, example is early model car importers (most operate out of the west coast) so if you are in the LA area you can drop them off to ship in the next container to AUS.

Cheers

^^^^ This.

We purchased front and rear pads and rotors for '07 GC from Bob Baker Jeep in Carlsbad, San Diego and brought them home with us. We made contact with them prior to leaving Aust to ensure that the parts were in stock and they held them for us.

We were only charged an additional $50 for extra baggage by Air NZ.

I did this last year, but the wife ordered so much crap, I ended up paying for an additional box that cost me $140 on the plane. I will be going again in November and will not be the courier for the Christmas pressies. I will however be buying some gear for the SRT.

Re: Anyone used moparpartsoverstock.com?

Well its been over 2 weeks and moparoverstock has not bothered replying to the couple of emails I have sent them regarding the shipping costs, so it seems they are not interested in doing any business down under.

So the search continues

Re: Anyone used moparpartsoverstock.com?

Hey guys I know this is a super old thread.. But since there hasn't been an outcome posted I thought I'd tell about my US to Australia part purchases. I've tried contacting a number of online US vendors and some were a little helpful, some just didn't bother or some replied very bluntly. So far it's been challenging to locate part numbers, especially if it's for a RHD, if you don't already have them. I recently wanted to purchased through a US eBay store, a Mopar Cold Air Intake for my Aussie 14 GC Blackhawk. I seen the price was well lower than if ordered here through a dealer and also thought that maybe if I enquired about adding a few other items I could combine postage, and also use the opportunity to ask for a couple RHD numbers. I shot them a message and although the communication was a bit tricky and took a few messages to be clear, they were happy to order any item that's instock and combine shipping costs. I guess though my additionals weren't large in size and could be easily added in. All in all I got the Mopar CAI kit, Black honeycomb grille, A replacement passenger sun visor (so I don't have to look at the airbag warning label), And a SRT gear shifter knob (which ended up being for a LHD.. and is actually in a return post right now) for a combined $137 US postage. It all arrived in under 10 days, and very well wrapped. Was very happy with the outcome. They're a US dealer called Steve White Motors and here's their eBay store link http://stores.ebay.com.au/Steve-White-Motors

I also found the guy at moparamerica to be helpful, but I didn't make any purchase through them.

If anyone's purchased through moparoverstock I'd be keen to hear if it went smoothly.

Re: Anyone used moparpartsoverstock.com?

Thanks for the info breakbeat, I ended up ordering most things through allmoparparts.com.
They wouldnt send big items like skid plates, Rock Rails or Bonnet Protector, well probably more correct to say that the shipping they wanted to charge with those items in the basket was astronomical.
Apart from sending me a Cherokee badge for the rear tailgate and then telling me that our export models were different to the other and refusing to do anything (pretty disappointing considering they had my VIN and could have easily checked that any item was suitable) it wasn't too bad.

I had the same results you seemed to have where some dont even bother replying to emails?
I really dont see why these companies dont want to deal with us down here?
Surely business is business.

Anyway got most of the items I was chasing at the time for the price the local stealers wanted to charge for 2-3 items

Bloody great idea with the passenger visor, I have been looking at that since having the car and trying to work out how to get rid of that warning label.
Was thinking of getting it recovered but trying to match the fabric
So great to know the replacements dont have them

Re: Anyone used moparpartsoverstock.com?

No sweat.. Glad to share. I actually just heard back from Steve White Motors through ebay and they're happy to refund me on the LHD gear knob when they receive it back too which is another plus point to them.

The visor I figured out would be a opposite side replacement for a LHD driver side visor. I haven't yet installed it into my RHD passenger, so fingers crossed. I will get onto it this weekend though and update you. The part number is 1LS27DX9AE

I used Moparamerica for all my Black parts, excellent service and reasonable postage.
