Re: Anyone using 285/50/20 tyres?

Hmmm, I had a set of these, lasted 100,000km, even then tread wasn't worn out but all four sidewalls cracked! Tyres got more and more noisy the more they wore, added about an extra litre per 100.....The best thing about them is the look.... Gone for a similar looking Faulken tyre this time, same size, same look, much quieter.....

Re: Anyone using 285/50/20 tyres?

The Guy's at Tyrepower advised me to run these Coopers at a higher pressure of around 38psi. Wonder if this reduces the stress on side walls and cracking??
They also advise a tyre rotation every 5000 K's to reduce uneven wear which can cause excessive noise later on in life. I had a similar experience with Pirelli Scorpions A/T on a Pajero where at 50% worn they sounded like mud terrain tyres!
Anyway I've got them now so I will inspect them closely after my trip.
Cheers

Done about 30,000 on mine. Very happy with no problems so far.
