Has anybody compared the weights of the three available bull-bars? The ECB bar is advertised as adding a net 32kg to the vehicle and that would be the lightest of the three. Whilst for a long time being a strong advocate for a decent bull-bar, Iím not so sure now. The GC has a front Gross Axle Weight Rating of just 1,452kg (it's in the manual). With two people on board, a full tank and some gear, the front axle weighed in at 1,420kg on a weighbridge. So with just the ECB bar without a winch, it would be on the limit. I'm not suggesting that the suspension will suddenly collapse with added weight but it may compromise the long term reliability of the suspension. So I'm keeping my powder dry until Chief Products come out with a price on their recovery hooks and bash plate.

Re: ARB Bullbar Delayed

Hi there,
Just letting you all know that my ARB winch bar in black gets fitted to my white WK2 on Monday night at ARB Port Augusta. Feels like we have been waiting forever but finally glad it has turned up. Will post some photo's when she is all fitted up..

That's great info Bob. I'm with you... there's not a lot of margin there. A rear long range tank may assist if my understanding is correct. At least you could carry less fuel in the factory tanks when range isn't required.

Harvie would it be difficult to weighbridge your Jeep before and after? A big ask... maybe you can get an honest answer from the supplier including all additions and subtractions? Not that I expect much will come off!

Cheers,
Steve

Re: ARB Bullbar Delayed

I don't think I will be able to weigh bridge it. I have a pretty rushed trip down there from Roxby Downs. I have to drop it off to the Jeep dealer to have a front left shockie replaced and serviced before dropping it off at ARB. I will see what I can do though..

Yep that should help. It's shame not to use all that wasted space under the spare wheel well.

Re: ARB Bullbar Delayed

He said it was about 50-55kg. About 5kg come off. There is a lot of hardware holding this bad boy on. Very happy with the results and I will be doing the lift when the lights, winch, on-board air, long range tank and second battery are fitted so there are no issues with suspension being overloaded..

Re: ARB Bullbar Delayed

Might have to seriously look at the chipping track soon otherwise she will be too slow due to weight lol. Still loving the GC though..
