I received an email from ARB today regarding the GC bullbar....
Due to huge demand for our products and the release of numerous new and facelift vehicles in the last 12 months (many of which are fleet and trade vehicles), the Grand Cherokee bar development has been delayed. We're hoping to have something ready later this year but unfortunately I can't give you a more accurate ETA at this stage.
Hi guys, prototypes are currently being developed and we hope to do an initial test fit shortly. Unfortunately, photos won't be available until we're a bit further down the track. We do appreciate your patience though. We are working to get this released as soon as possible but we also need to ensure that it's right.Cheers, Sam.
I think part of the delay will be the need to create moulded infill panels like ARB use on the current Landcruiser. This is the only way to create a acceptable transition from the bullbar to the vehicle sheetmetal.
For anyone interested, my 2012 WK2 is being scanned on Monday&Tuesday next week for a local aftermarket manufacturer to design and build a bullbar. It will take a few months and have to go though due process for ADR etc.
You might see more info over time on the 'ausjeepoffroad' forum.
While it may take some time, I'm very happy to be supporting a local Aus business that is interested and support Jeep vehicles.
That's only January 2013. Last year it was the number 3 selling 4WD (softroaders not included).
Anyway, not sure what the deal was with their response to Mr Blayney. It looks like ARB either doesn't know what they're doing, or doesn't know what WK2 means.
Uneek 4x4 has commited to making the following for the WK2 Grand Cherokee1. Steel, winch compatable bull bar2. Ally winch compatable bull bar3. Nudge barStay tuned to this thread and www.facebook.com/Uneek4x4
products expected in 4 to 6 months.
Scarps, any chance of asking your mate at Uneek4x4 what would be involved in getting the front end of 2012-13 models converted to the American front end as per the Aussie 2011 model? I ask because it looks like 2014+ Aussie models will have the American front end with the two hooks. That leaves us 2012-13 model owners out on a limb with potentially fewer after-market choices in the future not to mention only one lousy little hook.
BobT. In my correspondence with Uneek4x4, they indicated they would be looking into front recovery hooks as part of the bullbar development. They are also working
on rock sliders/steps ($750 estimate) with production of all likelyabout June this year.
Fingers crossed.
I know this has been a slightly dated thread, but I stumbled over this website here Jeep Grand Cherokee bumper kits, WK2... 2011, 2012, 2013
and some of the ware is not to foul certainly why not having a look, ARB isn't the only mob that does those bull bas and accessories.
Sure coming from OS might cost a premium but ....
They do look nice, but no animal strike protection, also they don't have Australian crash testing approval, so your insurance company would have a field day if you had a front end bingle
Ok, I dont know why's hat would be and ( at least from the outside ) it looks ok
at least.
I would not know where to start to even attempt to fit one myself, but they can fit it to a GC wk2 there, would be interesting to see if it could be fitted on an aussie MY12. Maybe modified..if need be.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
