ARB Bullbar Delayed

Well last week I took the plunge and ordered the Uneek Rock Sliders for my MY14 CRD. After tripping around on dirt roads over the past 6 months, the amount of chips appearing around the rear trim called for action. The Mopar steps are too expensive and as highlighted, rely on Jeep to fit if you don't have the tools available. I haven't been confident with their servicing, so I wasn't going to trust them with the fitting of the steps. It is my opinion that the design and online appearance of the Uneek sliders are better than the Mopar steps.

I'm heading to a reputable 4WD accessory business that specialises in Jeep. So I'll see what condition both the parts and workmanship is after they have been fitted. The business appears sound, so I think it will be more about the parts, or moreso the freight company.

Sorry for the delay. I'm in Perth and using SRB Off Road. Their work with Wranglers is quite impressive but they are familiar with Grand Cherokee as well.

It goes without saying that there will be a fuel consumption increase but I doubt it will be noticeable considering all the other variables. What would concern me most is the front wheel load. Not sure but I think the max. allowable load on the front axle (both wheels) is 1,452kg. I put my CG over a weighbridge with 2 passengers and some gear on board and it weighed in at 1,420kg on the front. That gives precious little extra for a bull-bar and winch. It doesn't mean axles are suddenly going to snap but it will probably mean that front suspension repairs will be more common than we would like. Already we know that Hicks bent a front strut on an outback trip and I bent a steering knuckle off-roading and that's without a bull-bar.

Re: ARB Bullbar Delayed

This is a repost from the bullbars thread (the other can be deleted

I can confirm that you can't keep your chief or jeep recovery points if fitting an uneek bar.
I got my uneek bar fitted today so two chief recovery hooks going on sale.

The installer was good finished near 8pm! Started at 9am.

Issues, first my car was telling me my front left and right indicators aren't working (cool feature telling you your lights are out) but they were both still working ok. The uneek bar comes with nice led blinker lights as well as daytime running leds and fog lights.

All lights were functioning correctly. The installer plug a computer to my car to try and cancel the indicator error code. He cleared it, however now the daytime running lights do not come on when in parking lights mode. They do illuminate with all other light functions (this is when the car is running).

Gets interesting now, when the car is off the daytime running lights work in parking lights mode! Btw when engine is running and I switch to parking mode the cabin lights such as air con, quadralift etc are also off.
Another thing is that only one fog lights illuminates!

Now I think the installer messed up the lights when he attached his computer to the car and or they stuff up the wiring.
I think the former.

Anyway I'll get it fixed tomorrow hopefully!

Re: ARB Bullbar Delayed

Just an update
The car seemed to sort it self out!
All lights are working as they should however I still have the right fog light not working. Probably needs a new light or loose wiring.

Re: ARB Bullbar Delayed

Does anyone know where I might be able to get the Uneek sliders installed, in the Perth area? Or whether it's practical to DIY install?

I have a cheap set of eBay steps I installed myself, but unsure whether the sliders would be a more difficult proposition..

Cheers, Simon

Simon

Vic at SBR supplied and installed my Uneek sliders :-)
Not sure how difficult they are to fit? I just had them fitted at the same time the Bull Bar was fitted
