I don't believe so, if you don't have the DAB button it isn't flashed with the DAB receiver firmware and adding an antenna won't fix that.
Sorry.

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

But flashing the firmware is hardly a deal breaker.

As far as I am aware, no one has conclusively determined the full gamut of reasons why a given vehicle displays the DAB option or not. If it's something you want, start by sticking a length of wire into the connection in the left rear quarter.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Previous comments have determined that the early models have the DAB hardware in the radio and that some (including mine) had DAB software inadvertently activated during UConnect updates.

If you currently do not have a DAB icon on the radio, you will be wasting your time connecting an antenna. I don't believe they will activate the DAB function now as it was not supposed to be there.

This doesn't explain the feature appearing on an early MY14 after hard reboot, then disappearing a few ignition cycles later.

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

I'm annoyed I didn't really know about this earlier. It possibly was there when I picked my 01/14 build up in November but two updates later it's not there.

Neither is the ability to tune AM radio to a station that was on my GC when i got it. Station is 1611, as soon as I put 16 in the the 1 button greys out and can't be selected.

It seems that Uconnect just do what ever they feel like.

Does anyone know if installing the Rax Jailbreak will fix the odd even settings on AM like it does for FM :

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

As far as I am aware from dealer discussions and my experience the Uconnect updates so far have not changed whether the DAB button is there or not. Mine was there from purchase (early 2014) and no updates changed anything. there IS talk of a FUTURE update removing it but thats still conjecture as far as I know.

I certainly wouldnt be adding an antenna (which is now straightforward and well understood) until working out how to enable DAB in firmware (which is not at all understood).

67HR what is the issue with AM radio ? Sounds weird...

See my post here: Australian 2014 GC with DAB
And here: UConnect 8.4 International / Export

When I first got my GC, the dealer tuned in all the local stations pre delivery,

We have a station on 1611 freq that is easy listening.

1611 was tuned in and working fine, after my next recall for sun visor and a couple of other updates, where they did the Uconnect for me, the ability to press the preselected (still visible) 1611 would not allow it to connect. The ability to tune it manually has gone as it now won't recognise odd numbers.
The FM as per my pics allows these functions.

Thanks

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Odd, will have to play around with mine abit to see what it does - pretty much all the AM stations in Adelaide are odd freqs and some even ones in the country...

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

(From Wikipedia)

531–1,611 kHz in ITU regions 1 and 3, and 540–1610 kHz in ITU region 2 (the Americas)

Looks like we have pseudo-American specs. The radio is programmed for 9kHz spacing and 1611 is out of the region 2 band.

Although mine can go from 531 (Oz spec) and 1602 kHz. You would think 1611 should be the next station in our band.

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

My 2013 my 14 has dab button I hAve customtronix nav software installed and dab enabled. I tried the copper wire into the centre of smb connection and it works quite well occasionally drops out. Less drop outs as move closer to city. I will try dab antenna can anyone show pics of where they installed antenna.

Ps any one wanting factory nav in their laredo the customtronix software is really good!!! Intergrates seamlessly.
