If I remember correctly RHS connector but you will know because your dab will have stations.

I believe its the side without the bulge, but as Chocco says just try it, easy to test. I think the other is for Satellite Radio or some other radio that we dont use in Oz.

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Hey guys. Spot on. It is the side without the bulge. Plugged in a spare connector I had lying around and up popped all the channels.

Driving around it loses quite a bit of reception and drops out so need to get a proper antenna, any recommendations, is the pioneer the best?

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Don't know if it's the best, but I'm very happy with it. It receives DAB even down here at Victor Harbor in SA which is about 90kms from Adelaide which is outside, actually well outside the broadcast area. It does drop out in some valleys along the way but much better than I was expecting given the quite small broadcast areas that are currently supported. Also very easy to install.

Installed the Pioneer antenna a few days ago. Absolutely perfect, nice a clean look in the window too!

Can't believe the dealers wouldn't be promoted this functionality and charging to install antennas for people that want it.

Thanks for your help everyone.

For anyone looking to install, buy the Pioneer antenna, i got mine from the Ryco. Then the SMB to SMB MALE 2Male adapter, literally the only place in australia that sells it is Telco Antennas then install into the rear of the car into the smb port (the side without the bulge) and the stations will load quickly when you next press refresh in the DAB settings.

The rear quarter interior trim? Start from the tailgate by removing the rubber seal. Slide your hand in, feel for the points where the trim meets the bodywork, then rotate/expand your hand/fist to pop the clip.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Had a busy weekend, did both the centre console bin replacement and the DAB upgrade.

Kudos to this thread for both inspiring and informing on how to perform the mod and where to get parts.

My overland never had the DAB button so I got the software hack from Magnus, great value at 55 euro for software only Kudos to Magnus, and did that first to ensure DAB came up. As others have mentioned, the antenna connector sits in the rear pillar passenger side and you just need the adpator and the pioneer antenna, which is very easy to fit.

The hardest part of the whole job is getting the trim pieces back in and getting it to look like they have never been removed, this took me 3 times as long as the rest of the job.

I have never had DAB before and I really like some of the stations available and the display of the song/artist playing. I will say that unfortunately the DAB reception in Perth is crap as you drive around. First I thought the mod may not have worked properly, but I got a mate who has factory DAB in his car to cross check and reception is the same.

Still, very happy with outcome none the less.

Gents,
Thanks for the info.
Removed panel and found antenna with a bit of searching, Its definitely up the C pillar. You have to remove a white tab that holds the cable inside the pillar to be able to get it down the pillar.
Connected to the cable and now have DAB.

Cheers everyone

Opps,

Should of mentioned installed in GC Overland MY14.
One day the DAB tab appeared after an update.

Located this post and was very great full as i was going down other paths to get DAB that would be more expensive.
Went the the Pioneer DAB antenna + adapter as mentioned in previous posts.

Undies, may I ask what your update was? A later Uconnect version? I've got an MY14 Overland without the DAB button but I'm coming up for the 2yr service so maybe I can get something done. Would be nice to have DAB.

cheers
Ian
