Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Ian,

My jeep is a March 2013 build.
Noticed the DAB button appeared after my 50k service.
I'm now at 63k
Current software is 15.26.1 which i updated myself last week.
In the hope i might get the Siri Eyes update or motion lock out.
Didn't happen as these are not for Aust models.

Hope this helps

Andrew

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Hutch,

There are many posts that deal with this.
Its not to difficult.

Go to the Uconnect web site.
Find the Software update link
Input vin number of your car.
It will tell you of any updates that you are due.
I would first check what the update fixes.
Sometimes you might not have the issue and I wouldn't apply the update.
You might create other problems. My opinion others might disagree.
Once there you have two options for updating.
I chose the Akamai Netsession Interface - just follow the tutorial, it will guide you through what you need to do.
Good luck Andrew

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Just received my aerial from Customtronix and just wanted to check before I started ripping off trims - thought the boys would have put a brief set of instructions in with it
Now reading stevezau post saying that he placed it on the "front passenger side" but everyone else seems to connecting into the rear cargo area?

So can the aerial be connected directly into the back of the head unit or does it need to be connected in the rear cargo area and go on the rear cargo window?

Just thinking that I have had the dash apart many times and would prefer to rip it apart again rather than ripping the rear cargo panels off if I dont need to

Any assistance greatly appreciated
Cheers

Mark

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Mark,

I connected mine at the rear. Its not that hard to do.
I'm Not that familiar with Customtronix fittings tho.

Try this (it could be easier)
- First remove the rubber trim around the rear passenger door near the pillar
- You should be able to see about two plastic tabs that fit behind the rubber
- gently pull the trim away from the studs that hold it in.
- Once you can get your hand in look and feel up the pillar and locate the cord and remove the tab that holds it in the pillar. I think its white
- Attach the new aerial to the connections. There are two to try. Try each first with radio on.

If you want i can take photos and post tomorrow

Andrew

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Well pulled the dash apart, disconnected the existing DAB connector plugged the new one in and everything seems to be working now. Aerial stuck to the top of the windscreen on the passengers side out of sight

Will see what the reception is like and difference is when I go for a drive, it did drop out a couple of times while parked on the drive running the aerial in

Just happy that I didnt need to mess around trying to find the adapter or trying to work out how to remove the rear trim

Thanks to everyone that did all the hard work and making the job really easy

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

well i've had a pretty crappy arvo.

popped the L rear boot trim off. snapped a few of the click connectors in the process. found the unconnected 2 socket cable lying over the l wheel arch area.

plugged the pioneer dab antenna with the smb smb male to male adapter. into one of the empty plugs

decided to update uconnect to 15.26.1 because the version i was on 14.26 didnt have a dab button. updated but still no dab button
so now i'm left with broken rear trim panel that i can't pop back fully and no dab

what are my options now ? ask customtronix for a dab button ??

If you already have RAX jailbreak email them and ask if they can add DAB to your token. They added for me at no extra cost.
Good luck.

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

all good now. got the customtronix software which added the dab button, enable entering navigation gps on the move, and srt apps

initially couldn't figure out why no channels were coming up on dab. swapped the pioneer aerial and smb m-m adapter to the other socket and bam , instantly had channels

now the 12 dab presets aint enough !

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

so just read this whole thread looking into the DAB ....excited now with the possibility of getting the DAB button to work - will go down the Pioneer antenna track I think but now really keen on trying to get the navigation to work as well
what else is required when the Customtronix software upgrade?

Re: Australian 2014 GC with DAB

Hi Guys !!

Newbie here, coming from far away (Belgium) ...

My 2 cents because my GC is not Aussie ...
I own a 36 000 km MY2014 Overland (built on June 7th, 2014) with DAB enabled from factory.
It's clearly mentionned in the leaflet.
Uconnect system is RG4 with actually 14.05.3 software version.
15.26.1 available but not updated ... yet.
DAB sometimes drops, as it happens with different radios I guess it is a broadcasting problem.
Sound seems better to me compared to the same FM station, a little bit louder (I have to reduce the level a little) and "cleaner".
There is an antenna in the cargo left side window.
I don't know if it is the DAB one, could be based on the previous posts !!!

Regards from Europe !!!
