Just took delivery of a GC 2014 CRD and the radio has DAB. Unfortunately the DAB doesn't work, presumably because in Oz we use DAB+ ? Anyone have further insights into this ? Can it be upgraded to DAB+ ? Should Jeep have configured it as DAB+ - is it a software thing ?
Just got my MY14 back from the dealer with 13.43.7 as the supposedly latest update. The DAB button is there but I cannot get anything to tune in Melbourne so I am not sure if it is hardware or software. Also they told me the comfort settings in UConnect was fixed in the releases they loaded but I found it still "unticks" after about 5 seconds. The feature works above 28 but there is no way to tell it is turned on due to the "un tick" of the selection box. Is anyone else still seeing the problem?
14.25.5 is the latest for MY14s. You can double check yours is correct for that on the Uconnect update site here - https://rsur.extra.chrysler.com/rsur/Uconnect.do
You can also download it there too, easy to install yourself.
Thanks Snuke I will give it a try and send the dealer a slap as well.
This "un selecting" of the "tick" has been a problem from day one and I don't see that they have fixed it in any previous version. Some screens you need to have the engine running some you don't but this Comfort setting doesn't stay selected in any variant.
The DAB I tend to agree with your previous comment on not having the hardware but I would be interested in knowing if someone has got it to work - would be a big free plus feature for once.

Have you seen post #15 in this thread? There was reference to an SRT owner in Sydney who got DAB wired up. I see you are in Vic but it might help you source some info on the process.
Qpr39 - I looked the company up on google and emailed them and got a reply saying they could do it later in the month. It will be worth driving up to Sydney for.
SUCCESS: I started this thread as I had the DAB button but it didnt work in my 2014 GC Laredo. When I read that there was a company in Sydney making it work it seemed that _maybe_ the demod hardware etc is there in the radio but no DAB antenna.
So I decided to drive up to Mt Lofty here in Adelaide where the DAB signal is broadcast figuring that if there's no antenna plugged in at all maybe right next to the antenna the signal wouldbe so strong it didnt matter.
It worked, did the scan and found many stations - select one and it works perfectly until you drive ...... a km or so down the road....
So, now the question is what is the easiest way to add a DAB antenna.....
I recall that there might be an antenna junction in the left rear quarter boot trim just above the wheel. It is a "one into two" device, but only one of the two ports is used. Check it out...
I have removed surround of the uconnect and pulled out and unplugged one of the antenna sockets (cant remember what colour). I then inserted the end of a piece of wire that was about 1 metre long to the fakra socket and hit the dab button and scanned in the channels and then listened to a station on dab.
So i think we need to add a dab antenna or maybe replace the shark fin antenna with one from a my15 model (which would include DAB). Just need to double check where the coax goes to at the moment.
Interesting, so the cable should be in place - just not the antenna, so maybe there's a join in the back area like Barboots has said, making it easy to just add in an antenna will look for that shortly.
How easy was it to pull out the Uconnect unit ? Are there instructions somewhere for that ?
Was pretty easy, pull the surround from bottom first. Flip up the cover that hides the sd/usb slots etc and grab the surround and give it a little tug and work your around. Unplug the cable from the surround. Once the surround is removed there are four screws (hex type) holding the uconnect in place, remove screws. Pull out and you now have access to the coax connectors etc at the rear of the uconnect
No I didn't mate. As I mentioned, I was poking around in my early MY14 when I saw it, but back then it was "a sure thing" that DAB couldn't be enabled.
It's 99% guaranteed to be a junction in the antenna feed with a spare port. I wouldn't send you on a wild goose chase. Seize the glory... I'd do it but I'm East and my car is West.
Pull the boot quarter trim. I'm confident what I saw is a coax junction. Back then we were certain that the hardware wasn't in the head unit, so I never bothered investigating further. It'd be interesting to know if/when the hardware was introduced, especially now I have a slightly later model.
Just be careful with a splitter. I tried a powered one of eBay and whilst it worked it blew the radio fuse also not long after that. Problem is the antenna needs phantom power as it is a amplified antenna. Splitter must also pass the correct frequency to the radio for dab for it to work.
My Australian JGC has 2 cables wired into the sharkfin antenna. It is cabled through the right rear quarter panel area. The yellow connector looks like the DAB which was unplugged for checking only. I believe this would have been wired right through to the radio. I have no DAB stations so I will need to find a better signal location to see if it works. Hopefully, it does not need to be enabled by software.
The photo shows the connections under the sharkfin antenna:
