Re: Baa Baaa's Long Trip Home

Well done Auscop, looks like it was a really good run right up to the last leg. You have got me a little worried now, when we pick up next week in Perth and return to Hedland we have to watch the mining quads when we get close to home. The managed to get the windscreen on the patrol earlier this year.

Re: Baa Baaa's Long Trip Home

Welcome home Auscop. 3,500klm from dealership to driveway. That might be a new record.
The issue of hose water on the doorhandles setting of the headlights and indicators is normal, so don't bother contacting the dealer over it. Just goes to show how sensitive those conductor switches are.
Ohh... By the way. That wine, 2020, meant drink it before the 20:00hrs on the 20th week of this year. That has passed, so I suggest you do not attempt to drink any more of it. I will come past early next year and safely dispose of it for you. We don't want your family to fall ill.

$2K, guess that windscreen box is getting ticked on the insurance form.

always tick the box on a car with rain sensing wipers. $800 or so seems the starting price for a rain sensor windscreen

pointless feature for us rainex lovers though......;D

Well the good news is I do have windscreen coverage in my policy and there is no excess for it, no does it effect my no claim bonus. Was not sure what the policy was as it was organised by the novated lease company. Will take it down and get it registered today and stop by a windscreen place to see if they think it can be repaired.

Thanks iwantanotherjeep, Glad you liked it.

Just got off the phone from Allianz, very easy people to deal with. O'Brien will be contacting me today to start the ball rolling in replacing the windscreen.

Re: Baa Baaa's Long Trip Home

Just a word of advice. Many people who have had their windscreen replaced, have had issues with the rain sensing wipers. Might be worth ensuring the repairer's are familiar with the setup. Whether or not this is due to generic brand windscreens or not I am not sure.

Re: Baa Baaa's Long Trip Home

Been following this all the way through... Need to make my way down there and I will certainly be touch base with you guys. What a fantastic trip!

I have to admit I followed this because of the Diesel and I was impressed with the mileage you got as well.

Congrats on your new Jeep!

Thanks Allypally, When I stopped off Trusty Glass the O'Brien dealer here he was quite familiar with the car and only replaced one in an MY12 or 13 just recently. They are swapping it for an O'Brien replica which he said is identical in almost all ways. The O'Brien one has a lifetime warranty against leaking where as the Jeep one has one year. The O'Brien one has all the rain sensor features as well.

FYI, for anyone that doesn't have windscreen insurance the O'Brien version is about $1000

Was very impressed with the insurance process with Allianz, in less that 5 mins from getting of the phone from them O'Brien customer service called to book it in. About 20 mins after that the local dealer called to make it all official. Will be getting replaced next week once it comes in.
