Re: Battery Issues with Aus CRD?

Speaking of dimmer swithes are your start/stop buttons illuminated at night?

Do the VM crd have glow plugs?
How do they work with the tip start?

Re: Battery Issues with Aus CRD?

I have an export euro spec 2011 overland with the hemi and I also had issues with my battery. After parking my GC for 3 days the battery was flat... jump started the car. Maybe I'm having the radio switching itself on issue??? this was right after a long 1000km trip.

Yes they do have glow plugs.

For TIP start, nothing different than a petrol engine. Just press button and away it goes. You can see the glow plug light momentarily but it just starts straight away.

Maybe it will behave differently on a cold winters morning. We'll have to wait and see.

Dont think we will notice here, unless you are in the snowy mountains.
Never needed glow in my 2003 crd.

What I was thinking have they stuffed something up and have pre-glow keeping things just warm.
Or set it up if the key is within say 5m the car thinks we are going for a drive lets preheat (glow plugs) ready for my driver.
Would like to see one start on a cold day and see if there is a delay from pushing the start to engine turnover!

Quick info on this subject, after having the battery run flat 3 times since new, I checked of the old faithful Google search and found your forum and glade I did.
After another jump start this morning I was back down to my local dealer to ask about this radio causing the battery to run flat. To my surprise the service manager pulls out a USB stick with a new flash file for the radio to fix the above problem, he claims he only received it last week and my car was the first to be done in the dealership. We also had the battery tested and reported so if we go flat again it will also receive a new battery. Let's hope the new flash file works.

Has anyone else had problems with keeping the keys within 5 metere's of the car and causing a flat battery?

Re: Battery Issues with Aus CRD?

Hi Rob
Can't help with your key fob question but there are other forums in Aus with same issues reported and all sorts of other info as well.

try here : http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...d.php?t=111704

and if you have a spare few hours : http://caravanersforum.com/viewtopic...882&start=1120

Nice spot Mackay, lived there for 5 years in the mid 70's, they were the days when you could do a run up past Brampton and bring home an esky of coral trout fillets.

The Jeep performed flawlesly both onroad and offroad. The ACC is amazing and the select terrain makes beach work almost effortless. Lowered tyres to 18 PSI and the Khumo's ate up the soft sand. Very Pleased! Battery didn't even go flat, though we only used a fluro for a couple of hours. And we caught a feed!!!
