Re: Battery Issues with Aus CRD?

Before we picked up our vehicle a couple of weeks ago I specifically asked the sales manager if the vehicle would be loaded with the latest software....
His answer was that they do update the software before delivery - he mentioned (to my surprise) that they were specifically instructed to ensure that the radio software was latest issue due to a battery drain issue that was experienced with some Aus delivered vehicles. I've also read about this around the traps so maybe there is a solution providing the dealer is clued up.

Re: Battery Issues with Aus CRD?

And another update on this - there is a new Flash software update specifically related to the "Battery Drain Issue". Mine went flat again after being left alone and unstarted for 3 days, dealer finally understands what may be my reaction should I have this issue again and tells me it is now rectified! Maybe they have finally sorted it out?

Re: Battery Issues with Aus CRD?

I have the WK2 Limited petrol and has been jump started many times starting from 3 days old. Battery and radio replaced. Diesel battery fitted to help with issue. Now only happens about once a month. Dealer has the car now. They keep blaming something new. First the radio software update. Replaced radio and battery. Second, replaced radio needed update. Third, electronic rust unit fitted by dealer. They disconnected and was replaced by authorized fitter. Now they have it again and are unsure what the issue is.

Leave the electronic rust unit disconnected for a couple of months and then see what happens. If the problem stays away, then re-connect and see if it comes back. These things should only draw 20 milliamps or thereabouts, but there is always potential that the one you have might be faulty and drawing more.

Are there any other electrical accessories fitted by the dealer or anyone else?

Re: Battery Issues with Aus CRD?

As the vehicle is leased it it a requirement to have it connected as part of the lease. If it continues that will be the next step though. Only does it once a month... And usually between 2 and 4 am.

I must live a sheltered life. I've never heard of an electronic rust unit being manditory on a leased vehicle. I would have thought that the vehicle would have been turned over before corrosion is an issue.

Do you operate in a marine related occupation?

Re: Battery Issues with Aus CRD?

Most lease companies will try to flog those electronic rust units, similar to the Ming Mole. You don't have to accept them, and I very much doubt if there is a condition that it must be switched on.

I've never heard that either. Mine never mentioned it. I do live in the desert though, so rust isn't a huge issue.
