Re: Benn0's build up thread

Those look great and I've been eager to hear how they perform with the WK2. Please let us know how they are on and off road when you get some miles on them.

Re: Benn0's build up thread

Will do, I was a bit concerned about wet bitumen performance braking and understeer. Looks like rain today, might give it a run and see how it goes.

Offroad I'm expecting it to do better than the MickeyT ATZ on my cruiser, not sure when I'll get a chance to test that though.

Re: Benn0's build up thread

Well gave them a test on greasy roads, just a sprinkle of rain. Turned it into a corner and gave it a squirt, the rear end stepped out moderately, but tucked itself back in again with minimum fuss. There is a mid to high pitch hum over 50, but not excessive, IMO.

There is rubbing at the front of the front wheels at full lock (at least there is in park mode) against the felt inner wheel well. Here is looking upward at the front of the front tyre.

Re: Benn0's build up thread

Car looks good.
The one thing that has bugged me about DCR is the way the black trim looks against it. I really don’t like DCR Laredos because there is so much black plastic against the red.
Having the Black rims, really pulls the contrast away from the body, and just makes it part of the entire wheel well area. I like it.
On my granite crystal, I thought about black rims, but for me it is too much dark colour, and the silver grey rims look good. On your DCR the black looks far better.
I have thought about plasti dipping mine pink (match the number plates) though so take that into equation with all appearance comments I make.

Re: Benn0's build up thread

Yeah, I intentionally went for LTD instead of overland because I thought the black plastic with black rims and matt black rock rails would all gel. Much like the trailhawk II concept.

I was thinking of dechroming, but I don't mind the splash of chrome here and there now....

Yep, brand new ones still in their boxes.
Just waiting on 2, possibly 3 more.

Re: Benn0's build up thread

So the road noise with these were bearable or able to be drowned out with some radio?? It's one of the only aspects that worries me about running them on a daily driver and how well they drive on normal paved roads.

Re: Benn0's build up thread

I think it is something you will get use to, turn the radio up enough and you won't hear it at all, I'll check what level that is for me. Still haven't had it up to highway speed, so that may be a bit noisier. You also feel the lumpy tread at low speed manoeuvrings in car parks etc. A little off putting at first.

Oh, and when I said there is hum over 50, that is KM per hour, so 30mph.

Re: Benn0's build up thread

So I found the radio at about 12-15 worked to drown out the sound at 60kph, not too loud. But long sweeping bends the tyre noise increased, I guess it is leaning on that open outside tread more.

Re: Benn0's build up thread

Also finding some uconnect quirks.

- I can't turn off Auto-Driver Heated Seat & Steering wheel with vehicle start. Keeps defaulting back to on.

- I'm playing music off a USB drive and the system finds tracks that I have deleted from the drive. Obviously when I delete from a PC it just deletes the pointer from the file table, but the file is still there. The system finds it and plays it.

- Can't play music through bluetooth from my iphone.
