Brake squeal/squeak

Hey all,

Have a Laredo 4x4 2014 build. Since new it has had a brake squeal on very low speeds. from 0-25km/h. Seems to be coming from the front.

I have put some brake cleaner on but it tends to last a couple of weeks and comes back.

I knew there was a tsb for this but when I bought it up with the dealer I got the typical "couldn't hear it and that doesn't apply to your car anyway"

Just wondering if anyone else has had this and whether they were able to get a solution.

Need to check your build date (MDH code on the door sticker) and whether you have HD brakes (I think BR8 in the TSB is a typo, that should probably be BR6) .. you can check the brake config by looking at your build sheet (you DO have your buildsheet, don't you?), or I think BR1/BR6 will have vented rear rotors.

At any rate, if brake cleaner makes it go away for a while, it is probably some sort of contamination on the pads.. if you are a DIYer, I'd probably just (properly) hang a new set of Raybestos or equivalent rotors/pads and forget about it.

Re: Brake squeal/squeak

There is a later TSB: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0500215.pdf

I had a similar issue where I got the occasional brake squeal at cold temperatures. Jeep did not do apply this TSB but rather suggested it was due to glazed brake pads. They deglazed them (rub pads with sandpaper) and have been good so far.
