Re: Bullbar coming

I spoke to ECB earlier in the week they are looking at re-engineering the mounts on their bar some time soon, this might give them a little prod into action.

Will be interested to see the ARB bar hope it's not the boring old design and suits the WK Jeep.

Hope to see the ARB one soon, that would be a great bar IMO.

Re: Bullbar coming

Camels are the coming problem. Someone smacked into one out west of Uluru last year. Lucky he was right up the road from the big Flying Doctor base at (Yamba?). The damn camel numbers are going through the roof after all the rains the last two years. A camel will make a road train driver think twice because they come in packs. You don't hit one, you hit half a dozen. Think of all the money we could make charging tourists to come here from the US and shoot the things. Safari business anyone?

Any updates on the bullbars? My dealer just told me he could get one for the Overland I ordered. I know about the ECB, but it doesn't fit the Overland. I'm waiting for him to let me know where he can get it from. Has ARB come through?

This first quote is some info I received from a mate of mine who just got back from a trip he went on with an ARB rep.

The second quote is from another forum about the same thing...

'Sorry - still not much on the new Jeep. ARB are not currently developing anything for it, they do not have one of these vehicles in the fleet for product development. It looks like ECB are the only ones'.

'Enquired with ARB yesterday about their bullbar for the GC WK2 which was supposed to be ready mid year 2012 ie. Now. This is the reply i got. - Thank you for your enquiry to ARB and your interest in our products. At this stage ARB is intending to develop a bar for the Jeep Cherokee. Unfortunately our engineering department is suffering under the sheer volume of projects and vehicle updates. I am not able to provide a date for availability, however I can confirm it is on the shortlist of projects yet to commence. I hope this assists you.May have to go for one of the ECB bars i think..... Can't wait forever.'

So long story short, who knows?!

I asked at my local ARB outlet last week and they still wouldn't commit to a date. Hoping for late this year.

So I've just ordered the long range tank instead. Currently also looking into the skid plates and rock rails, except the rock rails quote came in at $1,650 excluding fitting...........anyone in the US feel like sending over a couple of sets at your more realistic price?

I forgot to add that to my last post but I asked at ARB last week and got the same response.

As for skid plates, I think I'm gonna get my fuel tank plates from Just for Jeeps cause they're half the price of buying them here.

Then I will probably do the front axle and transfer case plates individually either from Just for Jeeps or Stu Murchison as I get some moreJohny Cash.

Something else to consider here. When I got my quotes from the dealer, the quote showed the parts as WK. When I rang the dealer back to query if they've given me the right quote/part numbers as mine is the WK2, the response I got back was 'we only have the parts as WK and they're all the same'.
So I guess my question is, is the chasis and lower body frame etc the same for the WK and the WK2?
I would have thought 2 different models.
We definitely know the front end of the chasis is shorter in the 2012 version.

Can I search WK accessories from aftermarket suppliers?

I can't say but Just for Jeeps specifies WK2 2011-12. From what I was reading on another thread apparently our WK2s could be an Mercedes chassis so maybe it is all the same.

This is something I dont understand.

In the US, what they refer to as a WK is called a WH elsewhere in the world. To follow on from that, what the US calls a WK2, is a WK elsewhere.

So yes, in Australia and the rest of the international markets, we drive a WK. It's only in the US that it is formally called a WK2.

Re: Bullbar coming

Yeah this is true, my dealer said it is just a WK and the previous model was a WH.

Re: Bullbar coming

These bull bars are excellent for making sure the other car comes off second best in an accident.
