Out of the box..

Another shot of the AUSWK2014HOOK - please note they are supplied for the passenger side only. The unit below is modified to suit the drivers side - but the connections are the same.

Re: Bullbars...

I guess my conclusion, albeit only with input from the ARB guys, is that it's largely a terminology issue (tow point vs recovery point), and that there's no reason to believe that what one manufacturer calls a recovery point is necessarily any stronger than what another manufacturer calls a tow point. Having said that, two points is likely better than one, and at least allows a straighter pull.
Thanks,
Russell

Re: Bullbars...

I'm waiting for a response from ARB head office. In the meantime I will check out Uneek. Many thanks for the feedback!

Bullbars...

I have seen on a different forum an ARB representative claim that ARB only use 1 "tow" point on their bar because it puts less stress through the GC's unibody.
I personally think that is BS as 2 "tow" points would share the stress over more of the unibody which can only be better
Just remember ARB are trying to get you to buy their product over someone else's
Why not call/send an email to Dave at Uneek 4x4 and get his take on recovery points
Then make your decision with more info from different sources

Re: Bullbars...

There isn't a hope in hell that one recovery point applies less load during a recovery. Unless of course it is the sole recovery point and it fails prior to peak load being applied. This is quite an effective method of ensuring that the car is not loaded up excessively.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Bullbars...

Just fitted an ARB bar to my 2014 GC - the JA recovery hook had to go. A pity because ARB have a massive tow eye, and a sticker proclaiming it must not be used in conjunction with a snatch strap, and that the sticker must not be removed! The legal dept has covered all angles.
Therefore..........I have a AUSWK2014HOOK to fit passenger side if any one wants one. Never been used in anger but has scratched paint from when I wired the bow shackle pin to it. PM for details.
BTW .....I am no longer concerned about the lack of a safe recovery point any - I bought a Nissan to take off road. The Jeep is relegated to a touring vehicle only.
