Did you know we had a cabin air filter? I didn't. There is no mention of it in the manual that I could find. See here: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_cabin_air_filter.htm . I had a look and sure enough, there it was. Mine had quite a bit of sand in it from a recent beach mishap.

check this out......
I posted this in the diesel section of this forum, but probably more relevant to the Aussie section...

I checked with them (Eziautoparts) today, for this response....part email quoted.

"Links to the parts are as follows:

WA5135 - http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wesfi...er-wa5135.html - $20.40
WCO163 - http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wesfi...er-wco163.html - $16.70
WCF203 - http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wesfi...er-wcf203.html - $29.25
WACF0154 - http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wesfi...-wacf0154.html - $17.55.

We don’t have these filters in stock but Wesfil has stock. I am ordering from them today so, if you want to purchase and order before midday, I can have them in the mail to you either tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning."

I will order a cabin filter and spare fuel filters from them. For now I'll stick with genuine air filter and oil filter.
John

and this....

I ordered a cabin filter @ $17.55 and 2x fuel filters @ $29.25/ea from them just now. Total price inc postage was $90.75. Was a very easy transaction over the phone.
Pretty reasonable I thought and I'll check out the quality and make a decison on the air and oil filters.
Thanks Swampthing1962 !! for the original info.

At the last service of my wife's Honda Civic, I asked that the cabin filter (pollen filter) be replaced. The helpful service guy said he would be happy to do it but he would have to charge me $90. I opted to wait. Eziauto Parts have a Wesfil for $25.20.

I vacuumed my car on the weekend and thought I check out the filter.....gotta hand it to the pleb who factory installed it. It has a very clear arrow pointing down to install properly, naturally when I removed the cover the arrow was pointing up with all words upside down. Don't think it makes any difference though.

After a year roaming the streets of Brisbane it had a little dust and some very fine plant stems (probably off a tree). The remaining part was still white so I gave it a bit of a shakedown on concrete and put it back in.

Pulled mine out today to check that the filter I got was the right one....yep it is and yep mine was in upside down as well.....
After 6 months there were bits of grit and dust but mostly stained black. Used the same tactic - knocked on concrete and put back in (upside down).
I was too mean to put the new one in - I'll check again around December and maybe give it a Christmas present.

This is bazaar!

Ok folks let's have some fun!

So far we have 3 upside downers! Let's have a show of hands........

Check your filter and post up whether yours is right way up or upside down. You never know, the tally could surprise us all, it may even show us the meaning of life or.......why Jeep has proven to be so slack!:D

I did recall seeing a post from the US about changing the filter......in checking it out I noticed from the pics that the cover that you unclip in front of the filter has the latch on the LH side. On our RH drive vehicles the latch is on the RH side. http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?p=490971#post490971
Maybe it is possible that the filter housing can go into the duct either way up.
If the filters are preinstalled into the housing it might be a lucky dip which way they are finally in the car.
Don't think it makes a difference anyway - although the new filter I have shows an air flow direction.

Mine is the right way up. Checked it before the car had 12 month service at the dealership last week, and it was quite dirty. Checked again after the service and, yep, still just as dirty. Did the same for the engine air filter and it wasn't changed either. Wonder what they do at the service....
