Cabin Air Filters - OEM Charcoal Part# 68260792AA

Hello guys,

I recently had to replace my cabin filter (stunk like paint fumes), stealer tried to charge bulk $$ for a non charcoal particle filter like this one:

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Cabin air filter

and claimed an OEM Charcoal filter (like the one I removed from my car) doesn't exist, I went to another stealer and bought one no worries, here is a link to a picture for reference:

68260792AA genuine OEM Mopar cabin pollen filter Jeep Grand Cherokee Dodge Durango 2011-on - Parts for GM, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ford (UK stock)

Part# 68260792AA

The charcoal / particle filter combination OEM filter is also MicronAir part CY13250C

Hopefully this helps someone out, I couldn't find this information on here.

Also probably worth ordering from the USA, local price is $130, USA price is $25.

There is a relevant thread below, although it is more about aftermarket filters rather than OEM:

Yep, 90% sure the Wesfil filter is particle only, Ryco filter is particle only too.

Charcoal is the winner, makes a massive difference.

I'm a little confused. Why do you need the charcoal variety?
I've never had a smell problem from my car air conditioners, and most of the air conditioners I've had in cars don't even have filters of any kind. The only exception is driving behind smelly cars with the aircon on "fresh".

Do you drive a lot with the air on "fresh" rather than "recirc". I always go recirc in traffic and then switch to fresh for a while when there is no traffic in front of me. Smells simply aren't a problem for me. (Our two other vehicles have no aircon filter.)

Well the number one reason is it's what the car came with from the factory.

Second reason is removing (or helping to) chemicals, gases and odours, cars aren't air tight, or you'd suffocate on recirc.

Unless i'm in the country with no traffic I always leave the car on recirc though.

Fair enough.

However at this stage for me personally, I wouldn't be too concerned with a non charcoal filter. The charcoal's absorbent properties would have a very finite life expectancy.

Cheers

Gram charcoal replacement filter was around $25 on Amazon Prime and has worked stellar. I just replaced my second one after 18 months of ownership. The leaves and pollen are really the biggest issues where I live. I almost always keep it on fresh unless I'm in the heat of Summer or a skunk has been hit. Then it's all windows down as soon as you pass the fresh hit nasty.

Thanks.
You don't by any chance have a link do you?

I'll look on Amazon and see what the shipping cost will be.
Charcoal would obviously be better, but not worth it for us if the cost is huge.

Shipping costs for us in Oz (Australia) from the U.S. can sometimes be pure extortion!
Yet with other things sometimes they're not so bad.
I have bought plenty of stuff from Amazon, but a lot depends on the shipping costs.

Cheers

Re: Cabin Air Filters - OEM Charcoal Part# 68260792AA

Interestingly I have my My14 serviced yesterday and the dealer replaced the cabin filter to the new charcoal filter for FREE. Apparently there is a service notice from Jeep to replace existing cabin to the new charcoal lined filter.

I have to say it makes no sense to me but hey got to be happy to get a replacement filter for free!

Re: Cabin Air Filters - OEM Charcoal Part# 68260792AA

If I had the option between Charcoal or the standard filter, not at the Aus extortion prices, then I would have Charcoal. Until I find a Charcoal for around $40-50 AUD delivered, then I'll stick with my $17 aftermarket replacement. I'm not paying $134.00 from my dealership, for a $30 filter.

Hence the reason I started the other thread. There has got to be better options out there.

I absolutely know where you are coming from. I agree, no way I'm paying anything like $134. That is obscene!

At some point I'll see what I can get one from Amazon landed in Oz, probably using " shipito" -with whom I have an account. It MIGHT be possible to get it here for under $50 AUD, though wouldn't be much less than that.
Even then though, I'm not entirely convinced of the cost/benefit. As said previously, I just don't have smell issues from our air conditioner.

Cheers
David

David
If you have success with the imported filter add it to the other thread.
I have a charcoal in my Holden Cruze (imported filters from the US). Love IT!!
Removes most of the outside odours.. IMHO they are worth having.. AT THE RIGHT PRICE

If I could import the Fram CF11183 for a good price, I'd be a happy camper!!!
