Collision Report: WK2 vs Barina

Sad to report I got rear-ended by a Barina today.

I was stationary at a set of lights outside the Gabba this morning.......then a mighty WHACK from behind!

Got out to see if the driver was ok, was not particularly worried about the Jeep. No injuries so all was good.

Then had a look at the Jeep - totally amazed. Only a few very minor scratches to the bumper - not even a sensor out of place! The Barina was another story, bumper bent in, bonnet bent up into an A-shape.

Spoke to the Barina owner this afternoon re insurance etc and she said her car had been written off.

Mine will just either need some very minor cosmetic work or a new bumper but I'll get it to the panel beater tomorrow to get a quote make sure nothing else is bent.

I'd say the Barina was at the same height of the Jeep's chassis so the plastic bumper simply hit the metal frame and bounced back.

Says a lot for our Jeeps.

Re: Collision Report: WK2 vs Barina

Good to see everyone was ok. Nice work by the Jeep! Did the active headrests go off or are they for frontal collision?
What is it with little cars attacking Jeeps in QLD ATM?? Saved by offset tyres and side step.

There is another thread some were.
He was rear ended much like yours all cosmetic until they took the bumper off and found the metal bumper collapsed behind the plastic one.

Re: Collision Report: WK2 vs Barina

^^^ This. Even though the plastic went back into shape, very good chance the metal underneath has been bent in. Make sure your shop takes a good look at the structure.

Re: Collision Report: WK2 vs Barina

I had a good look underneath after the bingle and everything seems ok but I will make sure to ask when at the panel beaters. Seems like she connected with the end of my chassis and that's probably the strongest part of the Jeep!
