Cost of Front and back sensors

Greetings All

I'm new here, posted this on the US side of the forum

I have had my 2014 Laredo 4x2 for about 3 weeks now. In Jan getting sensors installed front and back..... Camera is shite, and without gridlines makes reverse parking a little harder!!

Anyway, getting em done at the 1k service, and dealer is charging me about 1800 odd bucks.... Of that, 700 is labour cost

Anyone here paid to have sensors installed?... If so at what cost?

Re: Cost of Front and back sensors

Hi we were originally quoted about that price, but after squeezing the dealer in negotiations got them rolled into the deal for nothing. They can't be worth more than a few hundred bucks, as they are nothing special...
Could be worth shopping around for a better price, as over $1k for these sensors is insane IMHO. Can buy a set off eBay for well under $50, just as a comparison..

Cheers, Simon

Re: Cost of Front and back sensors

Just checked my purchase contract - the front and rear sensors were $995, but all the accessories we bundled in the contract 'for free' are listed at full price as well, not sure why that is.. If we paid full price for these, then we got $7000 off the car... Confusing..

Cheers, Simon

Re: Cost of Front and back sensors

Mine were 1500 through dealer.

Steep for aftermarket sensors but not worth the hassle considering they warrent them for 3 years.

Exactly what it thought, however my dealer is telling me only 12 months is the warranty!!

Think I'm going to have to email Jeep Australia!!

Re: Cost of Front and back sensors

I seem to remember that they cannot fit the integrated sensors, they are factory fitted, this means that it will run a separate speaker for the warning and run a new loom. It means it is no better than any of the non OEM sensors you get aftermarket.

I would find a auto electrician that will do the job for most likely under half the price.
What your dealer is asking is a total ripoff.

Re: Cost of Front and back sensors

They are not interested like the factory sensors on the Limited model for example.

Rear sensors are activeted when reverse is engaged. Front sensors have a manual switch to turn them on/off. There are seperate speakers for both front and rear sensors.

I agree they are a rip off through the dealer.

Re: Cost of Front and back sensors

You can have mine.
I keep them all turned off permanently as I can't stand them going off every time I come in and out of my garage.
I reverse in so firstly it's the rear ones going off then the front ones as I get the front in.
The the same in reverse order when I drive out but then I get the front ones going nuts at me again as I swing past a tree on the edge of the drive.............too annoying so they stay off.

I’m the same, they are too sensitive. I am getting the TSB for them applied tomorrow, so maybe that fixes it, but they are just overbearing. I love the ones on my Falcon, they work as expected and give good warnings, the GCs are too sensitive and warn you for things that are nowhere near you.

Re: Cost of Front and back sensors

I like them for the front, the visibility is pretty bad, so I rely on them when turning in to car park spaces.

The OP might be better off pushing the dealer for the better quality reverse camera, sounds like he got one of the original crappy ones.

BTW, sensors are $28 each on ebay:

Hey Benno

The one I have is the new one, it's housed in black plastic

It's just crap in comparison to my wife's Civic Hatch camera!!
