Re: Cracked Windscreen

Shannon's have windscreen insurance - one per year included in their comprehensive policy.

Re: Cracked Windscreen

Most insurance companies do, I think I paid $30 extra to have excess free windscreen replacement.

Re: Cracked Windscreen

I had a chip at the bottom base of the passenger side windscreen, small crack about 15 cm going up the window vertically.
Went to have it replaced under windscreen replacement policy with insurance company and the replacement windscreen was cracked.
Next one ordered cracked as well.
Another one on the way anyday.
Also I left it in the sun on the weekend and the crack went another 40 cm up the window.Hope I have it replaced soon.

I've had an almost circular crack due to a stone... but this does sound like weak spot around the mirror, where heat may have stressed this particular vehicle a bit.

If you can get reports of other folks suffering the same fate, it might help bolster a warranty claim.

Re: Cracked Windscreen (Windshield)

Added the word windshield to the title so that the Yanks can find it.

Re: Cracked Windscreen

I had something similar happen today on the way to work. There was a car about 500mtrs in front, nothing in the lane beside me or coming in the other direction. I heard my windscreen crack but didn't see a rock. About a km down the road it cracked again. The crack started at the top of the front windscreen on the edge of the black shaded area, it was about 5cm long before it turned and went across the windscreen near the rearview mirror. My car is in the sun all of the time. We have had cold mornings, it was about 8 degrees C this morning.

I don't have a windscreen replacement option in my insurance, something that I am now regretting!
