He was unable to tell me off hand exactly what the name and number was but a search of Sunoco's site brings up quite a lot 5W30's. I'm just back from Perth but will enquire on Monday.

Just wondering if anyone else has used this brand and which type.
There seems to be a couple that tick the box's:

Without searching can anyone tell me what brand of oil the CRD's shipped with?

Thanks
Never heard of Sunoco. On checking, apparently it's big in the States. Sunoco sponsors NASCAR and is the official fuel supplier to the Indycar series. That can't be bad.

Re: CRD oil on special

Sunoco Crystal doesn't meet any of the specs for the CRD. Their Xenon is closer to the mark.

Back in this thread there's some comparison of the viscosity, ash, etc of various oils used by dealers and proposed by members here. Interestingly, the Sunoco specs don't mention ash. Without that data, I'd keep looking...

Cheers,
Steve

The only reference is in the Properties overview:

Properties - Low ash level, phosphor and sulphur, extending life time of the carís emission control system while keeping up its efficiency.

Re: CRD oil on special

Dealers use the cheapest oil they can get that might come close to the specs.

Even if they have to replace an engine under their own cost (doubt it) - still cheaper than paying for the right oils.

Re: CRD oil on special

My invoice from the dealer for the 10000km service shows they used Castrol Edge Pro OE-X5W30 at a cost of $118.63. Anyone else have this oil?

I might be happy with that rather than taking pot luck. Who's your dealer?

Re: CRD oil on special

I'm pretty sure I mentioned that Ozzy Park used this in my last service. I raised the irony that it didn't actually meet all requirements. There were a number of subsequent posts where members advised the oil used in their last service... and there were a few eye openers.

You can't buy the OEX range outside of the trade.

Cheers,
Steve

Seems to be the case. I looked up Supercheap Auto and they list a whole stack of diesel oils but not this one. Can't find any other retailer listing it.

Re: CRD oil on special

Most dealers around Brisbane use that oil and from what i have seen does meet specs but they say it has been approved by JA for their use,

Hi from Texas!

I'm the guy that got the copy of MS-11106 from Chrysler and posted it on BITOG and the RAM1500diesel forum. I have since gotten a better scan of this on PDF I'd like to share with y'all. I'm happy to see we Americans aren't the only ones with pages and pages of oil discussions!

So, how about that Kendall GT-1 EURO?

Ok, follow up to this, today I was at the dealership doing work for them, and they were doing a service on a 14WK2 Diesel. I saw the oil they are using and it's Total QUARTZ INEO MC3 5W30. A search pulled these results:
http://www4.total.fr/asia-oceania/au...5W30%20TDS.pdf

I mentioned that they hold 7.7lt, he said "we put 8lt in the Jeeps"
