It ticks all the boxes except Chrysler's. This is more than can be said for what some dealers are offering. I'd have no hesitation is using it. Attached is the spec sheet.

Why would anyone call an oil "quartz"? Quartz is the last thing one would wish in the sump.

Poster listed 5W-30......pdf is for 5W - 40
Is that significant?

Thanks Bob, I forgot to mention and it's listed in the PDF that it also meets the latest Ford & Fiat specs (seeing we are using "fiat engines")

FORD: Satisfies requirements for FORD WSS-M2C 917-A
FIAT: Satisfies latest requirements for FIAT 9.55535-S2

I agree but would be happier if they didn't feel the need to add the qualifier "satisfies".

Re: CRD oil on special

I for one will stick to the Mobil 1 ESP as it is still, to my knowledge, the only oil meeting ALL the specs.

For the little bit of extra $$$, I'll save money elsewhere. Sure, it isn't cheap oil, but it is a pretty high tech engine so I'll make sure I feed it with the right oil.

When, and only when someone finds another oil which ticks all the approval boxes, then I may consider it.

Re: CRD oil on special

While on the topic of oil, I have recently spotted some aftermarket filters available locally for our Diesel GC from Wesfil (Oil Filter WCO163).

I know there was a recent price hike with the OEM oil filters, does anyone know how much they are now? I never understood why the diesel filter is 4 times the price of the petrol one apart from profiteering.

Those Wesfil filter goes for as low as $21 shipped so it could be substantial savings if they are good quality. Last time I changed my oil I have noticed the oil filter canister is made by a company specializing in oil filtering and not too dissimilar to the one used in the current VW / Audi group and Audi only charges $34 for the filter for a 8v S3.

PS just checked the MANN filter website they say that the oil filter for the 184kw diesel is "in preparation" hopefully not too far off!

I paid $67.25 for a Mopar oil filter a couple of months ago at the last service.

Over the last couple of years on this forum there have been a number of mentions of the Wesfil filters to suit the WK2 and particularly the CRD.
I've not seen a post complaining of quality or performance.

I've used the whole range without issue.

I purchase via Eziautoparts on line (they are in Bairnsdale, Vic) and Lyn is most accommodating and very knowledgeable.
In the past i have paid $14.50 for WCO163.
Air filter WA5135 @ $17.70
Cabin filter WACF0154 @$15.25
Fuel filter WCF203 @ $29.25 (and you need 2 of these).
I can't quote current prices but they are significantly cheaper than using Mopar from a dealer.

I use the Wesfil filters, even supplied one to my dealership for one service.
TOTALLY happy with the quality! (and the price of course!)

Many companies seem to think that having them service your car is a licence to extort money.
The post by somebody on wiper blades a while ago by somebody was a very good example, was it $340 or something like that?

Here is one way to avoid some of that, by buying your own filters.
I've also used Wesfil on other vehicles, (such as my wife's car.) Again, totally happy.

Re: CRD oil on special

Thanks for the feedback, the OEM Mopar filter is made in China for Mopar so doubt the quality would be very different. Does the Wesfil filter comes with the oil for the filter body?

I will possibly order some OEM filters from the US again just to stop the dealer from saying it is not OEM during the warranty period.

Update: Just checked the oil filter price seems to have sky rocketed in the US, the rrp is 60usd each.....

I have seem some aftermarket activated carbon cabin filters for the WK2 in the US also I am looking at getting a few of those while I am over there.

Ryco produce all the required filters for the WK2. Slightly more expensive than the Wesfil, but I use them as they are a better known to me.
