Hi all ,
Brand new 3.0 crd limited grand
When useing the Cruise Control i want to go faster i press the + and 9 times out of 10 it does what its supposed to
3 times now (its got 600 km on it ) the cruise just disconects and the cruise indicator goes out on the dash . if i turn it back on nothing happens . the indicator will not come back on
The only way to get ti to work is pull over and turn off . Start it back up and all is fine
Is it passionate fingers and im doing something wrong or do i have a fault and has anyyone experienced it
Thanks

Len I've not been here long, but I've read of this happening. Unfortunately I can't recall where it went.
To be honest, I originally joined just to get the pictures and be able to search directly. Have you given the search feature a nudge? You can also use Google to search the site if that works better for you... just add site:jeepgarage.org to the end of your Google search.
Issues with Cruise Control in the MY11-MY13's was generally associated with the brake pedal being activated. Commonly found to be a short in the wiring under the carpet due to the stretching of the cable from Lefthand drive to Righthand drive. Firstly check that wiring to ensure it has not come adrift. If you search these Aussie threads, you will find refererences to it
Yep that pretty much wipes out the brake wire causing it.
I thought I saw something on the US forum, but if you've searched I dunno what else to do but wait... or post in the main forum. If you get no bites here I'd hit them up over there.
It is definetly related to increasing the speed, it seems more stable if you increase the the speed incrementaly (multiple presses of the + button) rather than holding down the + button until you get up to the desired speed, and like you said when it happens the Cruise Control goes awol until the engine is restarted ... it is quite annoying if it happens near the begining of your journey.
It occurred to me once in a MY12 Overland. I had used the cruise control often but once after a good 60 min trip the cruise control just switched off on it's own and refused to come back on. I did the complete shutdown routine and nothing. 20 mins later I retried and nothing. Got to my destination and when I got back in and set off it was fine. Never reoccurred again but I only had the car for a few thousand klms. As it was an Overland I had numerous messages in the EVIC display coming up relating to Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot monitoring failures or there unavailablity. Believe I may have posted this here on the forums at the time.
Well that's good news Len as it's something that clearly requires repair. Definitely better than an intermittent fault that the workshop can never find.

Hi everyone , first post . I just thought I would let you know your not alone .
I picked up my Laredo on friday and have encountered the same cruise control problem twice in 500KM . It has only faulted when using the + or resume feature . I will let you guys know what the outcome when I finally get it back to the dealer .

Mine went back to the dealers...but they said they could not reproduce the problem, they did offer to go for a drive with me to observe it, unfortuanately I had no time to do this so it will have to wait until next time.
So when you go, I'd suggest you take them for a test drive to show them, or supplying video proof or giving them precise reprodcution steps.
However, they did apply the HVAC update (after I enlightened them about) and so far the climate control seems to be behaving itself now.
Mine is continuing to do this .. no rhyme or reason . I mentioned it at service and they could not replicate .
My local service manager is a goood guy and i intend to drive it there next time its doing it and put a scan tool on it
Happened to me today when I was using cruise control & pressing the + button to increase the speed - I may have held the button down or pressed the + several times, can't remember, then the cruise control just turned off & I couldn't start it again - indicator on dash disappeared. I remembered what you said, pulled over on the freeway, turned the car off & restarted then all okay.
Have been to the dealer twice regarding this issue with no result. The second time I even brought the car straight back after I managed to fail the cruise control myself and they still had no fault codes show. This was checked with the engine still running and the cruise control obviously not working. The cruise control buttons were also replaced and this did nothing. Now waiting on a response from Jeep HQ on what to do next. Very frustrating. Has anyone out there had their's fixed with some sort of success yet?
I dont think its related to the brake switch as if it were it would cancel the active cruise light but it would not effect the cruise ready light . Bloody annoying though.

How does everyone find the cruise when on a highway going down a hill...I find the cruise does not slow the vehicle at all...just rolls on increasing speed.

Still happening ...I can pretty much make it happen...continue holding down the +set speed for a while...then the + button becomes unresponsive to subsequent presses and then finally the cruise disengages and the cruise light dissapears and cannot be re-enabled.
what a PITA!! seems like its only RHD GJC's.
Anyone had luck with their dealers or JEEP Aus? with fixing this cruise control issue ?
Im going to try and get it on video...difficult need someone behind you in the rear seat with the camera over the shoulder.
I've had the issue happen once. Exactly the same thing when using the + button and then system turns off and won't come back on.
I've only got 1,000kms on the clock
Good work, I couldn't get mine to fail until I stopped filming, always the way! Let me know how you go as I've had mine in and out of the dealer for tests on the cruise and still nothing from Jeep as of yet.
Must admit though SNUKE my wife is not so happy...she says you want to try and drive a car whilst pressing the cruise control buttons and get it all on camera for the world to see ....oh btw she took the video OUCH !!
Pleasant surprise this morning when I went for first major service
The service manage told me he had others complaining with the same cruise control issue . At least we are being recognised with a fault and they are at least looking into a fix
Far better than being told it's not happening because the computer says there is no issue
Took mine back to the dealer for unrelated issues (tow bar to be fitted etc) and they said they had new discs from Chrysler Jeep USA which fixes the - cruise control disengaging issue, possible ABS Failure and adds a few things like adjustment of your rear view mirror dimmer, I said go ahead, 2 days later I got the car back, evidently it is a complete flash and reprograming of the on-board computer, (6hrs) all is good now though cruise working faultlessly.
