Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Another update came out two days ago - http://www.blackvue.com/en/contents/...ch=&searchstr=
I applied it last night (I didn't get to do the last one). This combined with the iOS app update means I can connect to it every time with my iPhone now, so no longer having issues.

The BlackVue DR650GW-HD English firmware has been upgraded to Ver1.002

[Key improvements] DR650GW-HD

1.Support for FOTA Upgrade
1)Functional Description
-FOTA(Firmware-Over-The-Air) is literally the function that allows the firmware upgrade over the Wi-Fi.
-Your firmware upgrade through FOTA function on BlackVue App will be easier and more convenient than using PC.

3)Notes
-FOTA upgrade will be available after firmware 1.002 version is installed on the BlackVue unit.
-Please use the SD card when upgrading from 1.001 to 1.002 version, otherwise error might occur with FOTA upgrade.
Please do not turn off the power until the system is fully rebooted itself, since FOTA upgrade takes about 4 minutes.
※ FOTA Upgrade is available on the App from the version below.
- App : Android 1.76 / iOS 1.510 / Windows 1.207

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

For those of us with rear cams, I suggest we turn them around when the car is in for service so you can see what goes on when the techs are in the car. I wish i had done that when I had the car serviced last week. I also should had switch the power supply to the always on socket so it recorded even when the car was turned off.

I will load all of the video into my video editing program and then skim through it all.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Do you have a reason which motivates this Snuke? Something not right... or just interested in catching a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes at the monkey show?

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

After reading dash cam reviews at https://dashcamtalk.com/ I went with B40 dash cam. https://dashcamtalk.com/b40-a118/

I could not justify the cost for a top of the range cam given the huge insurance premiums I pay. I installed next to rear view mirror (passenger side). This dash cam is discreet looks like part of the jeep. I cannot see it when sitting on driver seat. Very happy with video results. Total cost about $90 with a 32GB SD card.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Ughhh... getting tired of watching "review" clips for dashcams where the vehicles are stationary or alone on the road. I'm also not interested in them being unpacked. Am I alone on this???

There's some good information in this thread though. Does anyone have any revised advice before I blow about a grand on two Blackvue 650s? Not that I'm totally inspired by the performance... it just seems a bit better than most.

Cheers,
Steve

Love the 650, I have a couple youtube clips from the cam on the first ver. I reckon it is a lot better now with the lastest firmware update.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

I think the 650 is okay, the quality of the vision is average. I do like that it is is setup, and out of the way. I really like the WiFi connection to the phones for changes in settings, angle, now to update etc...

I am going to pull mine out this weekend (said that before) while bored at a horse show and refit in on the passenger side (routing the wires) before it goes in for the sun visor recall which involves pulling the drivers side apart.
I will try to take some more thorough pics of the procedure.

Steve, have a read of the dash cam thread on Whirlpool for some good local feedback - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum....cfm?t=2207027

I have only browsed it.

I wish this Lukas LK-750 which has a OBD II integration option worked with the Jeep OBD II - New LUKAS LK-7900 ARA B type Dash Cam Full HD Built-in GPS Sony Sensor Car Black Box
Looks like a tidy unit.
