Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

My mate in Melbourne was happy to have his DR650GW-2CH in his work vehicle the other evening.
Camera ended up in the cab of the Ranger.

He was pushed into the rear of another vehicle deploying both airbags. His VE Wgn was written off.

WJX-759, and judging by the veering left early on in the clip the driver wasn't really on the job.

Probably arsing around with a mobile

Did you expect it to still be recording after the rear window shattered & whilst it was flying through the air?

The rear unit is only a slave of the front unit, I could read the rego and it looks like the drive had his phone to his left ear.

Good enough for the cops & insurance co,

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Pity it stopped recording, next time he will have to secure it better, but very easy to read the plates. What about the front camera?

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Snuke, The front camera survived and was ok, even though windscreen cracked and both air bags deployed.
The rear camera is stuck to the glass like the front. The rear glass is only toughened so it shattered into a million pieces.
His staff member says the seatbelt tensioners are vicious

But apart from a sore shoulder he was fine.

NB: the Ranger was written off as well

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

I had mine coming from the right hand side as per Rob and decided to take it over to the left hand side, well just because no good reason. There was no issue running on the drivers side above the pedals.
Anyway, I just did this on the weekend while board at a horse show.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Snuke have you guys worked out the best settings so as not to get too many event files, also do you save on times or % to card? Having a hard time setting up a dr500 in the sensitivity section

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

From memory I turned the sensitivity right down, the beeps were annoying when going over a bump. Apart form that, I haven't touched in several months, so I can't remember other settings. I sure don't recall anything about time and % options.

I'll pop the card out tomorrow and check it out. It is long overdue for a formatting.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Thanks ive since read saving in % actually keeps the event files intact otherwise in time format they are over written
