Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Snuke, I've hit the get go on a pair of the blackvue 2ch, (1 for the good lady's Liberty as well) "taking advantage of Joe Hockey's new early Xmas present "

Just wondering if you ran the wire to the rear cam along the headlining by pulling the wind moulding down across the top of the door openings and tucking it in that way? It seems the most obvious way to do it.

cheers

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

I recently installed a Blackvue DR750LW-2CH daschcam in each of my vehicles - that's exactly what I did on each install; ran the cable for the rear cam down the driver's side of the vehicle, tucking it under the headliner/trim along the top. (There's plenty length of cable to install a rear cam in virtually any vehicle.) Hardest part of each install was getting the connector and wiring through the rubber weather plug on the top of the rear hatch on each vehicle in order to mount it on the inside rear liftgate glass. I found that the easiest way to do this is to fold the connector over, begin stuffing the wire (at the fold) through the rubber plug, then I used a gripping tool (like you'd use to pick up a dropped screw from a tight place) to grasp the fold of the wire inside the plug and then gently pull it and the connector through the rubber plug. Not two weeks after I installed the 750 system in Mrs. Northland's car she got hit from behind - other driver never contested it and promptly reported it to her insurance, but it was nice to have the entire thing on HD video should she have tried to deny responsibility. Was also really funny watching her say "Oh Sh*!" at the moment she realized she hit something!

See Chris's pics back in post #64 - Dash Cams - Down Under

I have it tucked under the headliner along the drovers side. As Northland says, installing the rear is the painful part due to the rubber plug.

64Gb card is a wise investment if you want to keep a few days worth. I have mine on 24/7 and get roughly 3 days of recordings.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

I get 3days out of the 32g card like i said it also depends on how you save the files for a rewrite. Also any file you think is worth keeping because of a situation you would save it asap and not leave it for over a week anyway.

I wish Mine is parked outside so every movement triggers the movement, especially the high winds we have had of late.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Thats odd as mine wont trigger unless you open a door. I have the movement sensor off and others set at 95% and it definitely dont trigger. I dont see the point in the movement unless you are worried of it being stolen in that case its too late as you dont have the car anyway. and i dont need to see rubber necks setting it off all the time.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

To this day im yet to have a park activated file all are events or normal. I found the park files are only evident when you select movement. Once i park it records for ten minutes then it jyst goes into monitor mode. The only time it records an event whilst parked is when i open the door when i return.
