Absolutely, and one of the videos I first posted says that, however, that costs a good deal more. If that's in your budget, go for it. At full RRP of the 500 series Blackvues, that is nearly $200 more.
I will ask the guy with the 550 fitted to his overland if there are any issues with the rear through the tint at night.

A guy posted an image, re camera on tinted rear window at night, all you can see is two head lights. Interesting to see how well or bad Blackvue performs.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

I ordered the Blackvue DR650GW-2CH today, I will pick it up on Tuesday, and try to fit it that day too. General fitting seems pretty straight forward. The only thing that concerns me is wiring it up. I have the knowledge of the Amish when it comes to electricity and wiring.

Enforcer, I am assuming your 550 is wired into the car, any tips? I am not going to bother with the Power Magic Pro, it only needs to be on when the car is on.

The Car Kit Co, my mate is a manager there so a special price.
The 650s are cheaper than the 550s were. Official RRP is $500.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

You can grab ACC power from the mirror apparently.
This is what I am planning to do once my TPMS problem is sorted out.
I read on here about a guy getting power for his Radar Detector from the mirror. Looked like a good way to get the power.

I reference that in my second paragraph in the opening post. I couldn't make enough sense of it, though, maybe it will make more sense when I have it in hand. I am electrically retarded including all terms. I need one of the “For Dummy’s” type of instructions.
I have downloaded the 550 manual, which I am sure is basically the same. I will read that this weekend

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

My bad Snuke; I didn't backpedal and read all the prior posts in this thread. It's really not a difficult install, and since you're only dealing with 12V there's no danger of electrocuting yourself. Hardest part for someone with no prior wiring experience would be soldering electrical connections - just find some how-to videos on YouTube for that. Practice on some spare wiring and you'll have that down in 10 minutes. I'm sure it'll make sense once you have the dashcam wiring in hand and remove the overhead console to see the wiring up there (or behind the mirror; wherever you choose to make the connection). I'm available should you need a hand to talk you through it also, just PM me.

So you're saying I can happily suck on the voltage while I try and figure it out. Good.
